Real simple here guys...
You can try to mask the fact that the Hawks really have no one to help Toews on the dot
You simply will not win a Stanley Cup with Corey Crawford in net. Anyone that genuinely believes that is fooling themselves. Stan Bo etc know this - they HAVE to know this. And he must be aggressive in trying to get a solid improvement in net.
I'm just pissed--this team is ready to win RIGHT NOW with some of their core already aging. The fact that they continue to turn a blind eye to the goalie mess is a complete joke. - CaptainBlackhawk
Can we win a Cup with a rookie like Lehner ?

He does. Don't much about Lehner other that he's big and has a good AHL record. I'm willing to roll the dice with Craw at least one more time. - philco28
this is a mistake IMO. His rookie year was the exception to the rule. Last year was his norm. He is 28? By now, you know who a goalie is by this age. Very rarely does a goalie suddenly develop around 30.

Yeah and he was great in the OHL as well, all after he was already a nice prospect from Sweden that got him picked mid 2nd round in the NHL draft. He's one of the best goaltender prospects in the world. You aren't going to get him for Nick Leddy.
I personally don't want to roll the dice with Crawford again. To each his own. |

You don't subscribe to the theory that you must have experience in net to win a Cup, do you?
I can think of many untested young players who have either won a Cup or been highly successful in the playoffs.
We know what we have in Crawford - someone that you can't win a Cup with. |

It's probably just some administrative necessity somehow linked to the number of contracts. I'm just spitballing here, but if a deal were made I'm not sure why Hutton would need to be waived. I know there are tonnes of possibilities for this, but it doesn't make sense. - DarthKane
My latest info., albeit sketchy, is it is just that.

My understanding is OTT wanted more than Leddy, thus the deal died. Would not surprise me at all if the deal has not been revisited. Both teams have obvious needs. - John Jaeckel
Jesus, if thats the case, just throw a 2nd rd pick or Morin in there |

And this is what I was thinking. There'd be zero reason why Carter Hutton would have to be waived if you made a trade for another goalie.

The Hawks would have to give up quite a bit more than Nick Leddy to get Robin Lehner BTW.

Some good points, but my answer to this goes back to my post on page 1 of this thread.

Yep, don't blame you at all. I'm sure Lehner is a blue chipper and could be the answer too. It's out of all our hands really. That's why i don't play the hot stove game. No amount of conjecture or wishful thinking on my part is going to make our GM do things i wish he would.

Might not be enough still.
I'd offer Leddy + 2013 1st round pick + any (1) of our prospects not named Saad, TT or Danault. |

And Stan Bo would shart his boxers and watch Crawford blow big playoff games again and then tell us all "the prospects are almost here!" in his post season presser.
And then the season ticket waiting list would grow... |

Another 1st round exit or less and this statement will be tested, greatly.

Today's waivers per Elliot Friedman:
BUF: Mark Mancari
CGY: Akim Aliu, Krys Kolanos, Joe Piskula, Ben Walter
CHI: Carter Hutton
FLA: Andre Deveaux, J.F. Jacques
MIN: Drew Bagnall, Brian Connelly, Chay Genoway, Carson McMillan, Jarod Palmer
NYR: Sean Collins, Michael Haley, Chad Kolarik, Kris Newbury, Logan Pyett, Brandon Segal, Mike Vernace, Tommy Grant
STL: Adam Cracknell, Scott Ford, TJ Hensick, Andrew Murray, Anthony Peluso, Brett Sonne, Mike McKenna
SJ: Brandon Mashinter, Jon Matsumoto
Thought Mashinster was a beast. NHL and AHL numbers leave a lot to be seired though. Looking around it looks like Hutton has to clear wavers to play in the AHL. I would think that if it was the regular season he would have had to clear in September. If I remember right,Hawksput him on waivers when they first got him to assign him to the AHL |
