Legit concern Beav....but since Kane and Sharp have been Hawks' they are +23 and +66 in the regular season...while Bolland is +40. They should be alright. - philco28
They may not start with the puck often, but when they have it they won't be facing the other team's shutdown line and D pairing very often. Once they get in the offensive zone, they could be there for a while.
The way Bolland likes to set up behind the net and Kane on the half boards there could be some good chances for Sharp getting lost in the wash. |

Today's Trib said that Kompon was in charge of the PP. Didn't Kings fans come over here the day Kompon was hired saying their PP took off once Kompon was removed from it?
I'm also assuming that means more of the same on the PK with Kitchen. - NewToHockey
>You are correct about Kings' fans and their take on Kompon
>Kings PP took off when ex-King & Hawk Bernie Nichols tweaked it (per Hockey News)
>I was referring to the even-strength line combos that have been skating together
>Wasn't too happy Q hired his buddies as Assts - though many coaches do
>We will all soon see what this braintrust has come up with on the PP
>And it appears, the Hawks will have all of 3 days or so to really practice it (local scribes say tomorrow the first day of real PP practice) |

So with redden and gomez being bought out do the rangers get a cap penalty since they were the team that signed both players to the contracts they were bought out of? - ikeane
So we go thru this whole lockout thing, and in one day, both sides decide to do this buyout thing?

Hope Q leaves them together for 5-10 games to see what's what.

Probably accurate, but it will be similar for every team. PK and PP will take some time to integrate on teams with significant personnel or systematic changes.
I will be interested to see what kind of start Shea Weber gets off to with a new partner. |

Anyone interested in offer sheeting Subban? - scottak
Can't do it. Traded a 2nd/3rd rounder in 2013 for Oduya. Any offer made to Subban would likely include either one of those for compensation. |

Disagree with the first part. Agree with the last part. I think he is gunshy and always holding out for the sweetheart deal as opposed to value for value . . . because . . . he has a giant, meddlesome, finger-pointing ego above him. - John Jaeckel

I think we have a better chance of you not saying "phuck" for the same amount of time!
EDIT: Less than 80 hours till the first puck is dropped. |

My math says just under 91, or is there a game earlier than the Hawks? |

So it sounds like the league and the PA have agreed to allow each team one buyout that could be used before the start of the season. The Rangers and Canadiens will use this option to buy out Redden and Gomez. Could we expect the Hawks to make such a move with Olesz or possibly Monty? |

Both failed their physicals and can be placed on LTIR. Assuming both are out long term, why bother? Olesz is up after this year, IIRC and Montador can always be bought out next summer. |

Can't buy out an injured player.
Also, the accelerated buyout option is only for players with cap hit of $3mil+ |

'Gunshy' is one way to describe his unwillingness / inability to pull off a team improving deal, I prefer to call it being inept in assessing the strengths and weaknesses of his team and then effectively doing something about it.
So if the Hawks really, really do want a top notch goalie, an effective G.M. would step up to the plate prepared to trade commensurate assets. If you want Robin Lehner badly enough (described by Coach Paul Maclean as the best player in the AHL), be prepared to deal Danault and/or Shaw and more than that if you think goaltending is your achilles heal on what would otherwise could be a championship team.
Sending a boy to do a man's job dealing with a guy like Bryan Murray is a waste of time. He aint taking Jimmy Hayes and Jeremy Morin and Shawn Lalonde back for a potential franchise goaltender.
You want Jonas Hiller from the Ducks? - step up and help re-stock them with some of the good forwards you have. They"ll listen, they've got a one line team with 2 star players who are pending UFA's.
Arguing trade-in value on your 10 year old Corolla doesn't getting much listening time with a guy selling Bentley's. He immediately sees Stanbow for what he is -a bean counter who likes rummaging thru garbage cans hoping to find an accidently discarded jackpot lottery ticket. - RickJ
