I agree with this, you might be able to get away with shorties in the regular season. However they destroy a team in the playoffs. I'd rather go 0 for 5 than 2 for 5 with 2 shorties against. They are game/momentum changers. Blysma needs to get this through his head.
Anyways glad hockey is back, still don't think I can spend any money on the season. Well maybe center ice if the price is cheap. - Sell My Monkey

Absolutely! How can anyone not be? Should be an interesting evening for the scrimmage and of course the Saturday afternoon opening game should be the ultimate kick off. Anybody else buy into the Blackhawks/Kings game even remotely coming close in ratings to the Saturday game? My coworker who is a Hawks fan won't stop yelling "It's the champs though!" |

I don't hate to say it.... I'm pumped for Saturday. Just wish it was a night game. Sid and Geno will dominate. I just hope our D plays much better than the end of last year. Bylsma says he's made some adjustments to his system....Let's hope for that too!
By the way... That first goal by Bennett in that prospect report is SICK!

Yeah, that's pretty early, but like you said, it's not to be missed. If they win I can't think of a better start to the day. |

Thats what I've been saying. He's made a lot of headway since his injury at DU. I thought he'd be ready and he looks like he is. I hope he gets a fair shot tonight and they really consider his talent. You're right about the D. Fresh start! |

I am happy to see that Beau Bennett is playing well at camp, but I really don't see him making the team out of camp.
There is the whole waiver thing against him (versus someone like Tangradi), and the team has to be a little concerned about his stamina as the season goes on.
In the last two seasons, he's played a total of 47 games. Right now he's at 30 in the AHL. EVERY player seems to have that adjustment to playing an 80+ game season, and he's gonna hit the wall at some point. Playing 48 more games in 99 days just isn't realistic.
He can probably provide a spark as an injury call up for a couple games at a time, but longterm, I'd rather have him play out the season in WBS, and go through that grind including a playoff run. Hopefully he stays healthy, and can have a great offseason, and be ready to compete for a top 6 NHL job next season. |

While a lot of this makes sense, I still believe they should keep the best players. This team needs to win now and they could really use a scoring winger......especially one with a right handed shot. If Bennett proves superior to Tangradi (which I think he will), I say keep him up and lets see what he can do against NHL talent. There are kids younger than him scattered on other teams rosters.
Plus.... If Bennett does adequately produce, it might enable the Pens to avoid dealing one of their prospects at the deadline. |

Give Tangradi his crack at being a part of the Penguins. Sink or swim time. No need to force Bennett into that slot unless he is over the top great. If Bennett continues to play really good and Tangradi doesnt live up to the billing, then you can go from there.
