donovan? - LetsGoIsles
Not in camp, right? I don't think he was invited. I assume the opening night roster would be made up of players in camp, but I was surprised he was left off. |

I was surprised both Nino and Donovan were not invited to camp, however I wouldn't be surprised to see them as first call ups if these waiver pick ups don't work out or if we have any injuries

According to Gallof, when injuries pop up, they will be up as well as Nelson...Garth really likes Nelson... |

Gragnani has some offensive upside and is a pretty good puck mover that likes to join the rush. The problem is he aweful defensivley and seems to put him self out of position a lot. Pretty much a poor mans Marc Andre-Bergivien. |

We need to trade for Subban... they are not even close on a contract according to sources.
After about 5 games... Montreal will panic and deal him.

Tweener. I'd pass on all on that list. The more I accept the fact we probably won't be making a big trade for a d-man in the immediate future, the more I don't really mind seeing what we have in camp. If Vis makes his way over and actually plays in a couple of weeks, as ticked off as I'll be about having to see him on my team, the top six could be Streit, Hamonic, AMac, Martinek, Vis, Carkner...not horrible, although it could definitely use work. Then you have the two wildcards with the waiver pickups and Donovan waiting in the wings. |

the 2 waiver pick ups have to be on the nhl team for 30 days otherwise they can be returned to their team...should be interesting depending on timing with LV |

Gallof and Staple said if the Islanders want to send any of their waiver pickups to the AHL, they can wait 30 days or give the teams that they got them right of first refusal. If they say no, then they would go to Bridgeport. |

Or match an offer sheet if one is offered OR take the picks which could be pretty substantial if they aren't matching? They may get more out of an offer sheet and not matching depending on the salary? |

It isn't with Vis in there but I still say let him rot. If Streit and Amac snap back from last season it's not bad but again, I hate going into it with so many question marks. |

The Montreal radio sports station said they thought if someone offered Subban an offer sheet, they probably wouldn't match after $4 million a year...they would rather have the picks. |

It's a good thing to have 3 or 4 first rounders over that time period to trade or draft along with your own. It's not a bad situation to be in for a team during the salary cap era. |

That's what I was thinking. They'll probably start the season with both the waiver guys on the roster as 6 and 7 d-men. At least they'll have time to get both of them into games and see what they have. If one looks really bad out there, no problem to just waive him and have him go back to his old team should Vis show up before the 30 days. |

Heres my take. If you're willing to give up assets for Subban (prospect, and say two picks), why not save the asset that was drafted, and throw him an offer sheet. If it means we give up 3 picks, im fine with that. The isles prospect pool has this team covered for the next 10 years. We can afford 3 picks for a guy who's gonna come in and play all facets of the game. 5 million a year for 5 years.

This kids only been in the league 2 years, and he's basically averaged 10 goals a season and call it 40 pts a year. He hits, he can play PP, he can skate, pass and shoot. Basically, he's EVERYTHING you want on your team (i.e Travis Hamonic). He's played with Tavares, and they won WJC together. This kid is the real deal. 5 million a year for 5 years, will get him here, and he's worth it. Even if it means you are overpaying by a million a year, after the likes of Rolston, Dipietro, Yashin, the isles should spend the money on someone like this. |

You def have a more positive outlook of our prospects than me( )! IDK about 10 years that's expecting alot I think? 3 first round picks especially where we are going to be picking probably is a pretty high price to pay. I think we both know Snow would never do it and for once I'd probably agree with him. I like Subban and I think he'll get better even but where this team is going to be picking I'd say no. If we were a team that actually competed I'd be more inclined. |

I would do a happy dance if they got him. So would Tavares... |
