You def have a more positive outlook of our prospects than me( )! IDK about 10 years that's expecting alot I think? 3 first round picks especially where we are going to be picking probably is a pretty high price to pay. I think we both know Snow would never do it and for once I'd probably agree with him. I like Subban and I think he'll get better even but where this team is going to be picking I'd say no. If we were a team that actually competed I'd be more inclined. - Cptmjl
You have kids like Cizikas, and Ulstrom who might make the team this year. Then you have Nino, and Donovan who might make it next year. Add to that last years 7 defensive picks. You have 10 years of hockey from our prospects. 3 picks is not a lot to give up for a guy who will make an immediate impact on this roster. Dont forget Streits a UFA. DeHaan wont be his replacement as he cannot stay healthy. So who QBs the PP in the next 5 years? To me, Subban is the perfect fit for this team.......it makes sense. |

I would do a happy dance if they got him. So would Tavares... - kear20
Hes a stud......as the saying goes, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Id rahter have Subban knowing he can come in and make a difference.......than 3 years of picks that might not pan out (see DeHaan), and who wont see the NHL ice for 5 years plus. This team needs Subban........they dont need 3 more picks.
Sidenote : the isles sign Subban, and Visnovsky shows up.......mark my words, they make the playoffs........now those 3 picks arent so great!! |

Heres my take. If you're willing to give up assets for Subban (prospect, and say two picks), why not save the asset that was drafted, and throw him an offer sheet. If it means we give up 3 picks, im fine with that. The isles prospect pool has this team covered for the next 10 years. We can afford 3 picks for a guy who's gonna come in and play all facets of the game. 5 million a year for 5 years. - kindlyrick
Subban is apparently asking for 6mil a year, he's not worth anywhere near what JT is. I'd like him on the team, but I don't see Wang shelling out 6 mil a year for him plus assets.
*** if they did want to offer sheet him, they'd have to get their 2nd round pick back from Anaheim. without their own top three picks this year they can't make that offer. If they offer him less than 6 and he signs, montreal matches. |

See my post above at the compensation chart. He's not worth 6, but id sign him for 5. Thats basically giving up a first and a third. No brainer as far as im concerned. Dont need the 2nd rounder....

Montreal said anything over 4 million and they'd let him walk for the picks.

I like him, don't get me wrong, if they could get him to sign for 5 then I'd be surprised though, it would likely take a huge overpayment for Montreal to not match, especially since they're in the same position and need NHL roster players right away to reverse their slide. |

Like i said, anything over 4 and they want the picks. To me, this kid is worth a first and a third. To me, this is a HUGE Piece to the puzzle for the isles. |

Im not a huge Subban fan. But he will become a great Defender So i would offer him 6 mill per for 6-7 years. Having PK and Hamonic on the Back once they move to Brooklyn would be an awesome D pairing.. And then build the Defense around them..

that came off a montreal radio station and would be considered speculation. If montreal outright said they'd let him walk after a certain amount and keep the picks, there's be a few gm's lining up to throw him an offer sheet.
I like Subban, but aside from him, what's montreal got left on defense that would be considered a building block? I would be shocked if someone signed him to an offer sheet for 5 mil and was able to get Montreal to back away, especially with a brand new GM and a miserable season last year. |

I heard it on XM radio.........most teams dont have the cap space, or the prospect pool to wanna give up a few picks. Isles have both. Perhaps that new GM wants a fresh start? Who knows.......all i know is SUbban and the Habs are far apart and this kid would be the perfect fit for this isles team. |

Of course they're gonna say that. But MDZ is not nearly as good as PK Subban. Del Zotto can skate yes, but he's not great defensively and does not play the physical game Subban does. |

I hear ya man.....
The way i see it, you got Tavares as the top forward, and Subban would be the top dman. Both of whom are friends......both of whom are winners. To me, giving up a first rounder and a third rounder for this kid is next to nothing.

I can definitely agree with you if the Isles could get him without losing a top prospect or a roster player I'd be all over that. Subban would be a solid addition to the team |

I'd offer him less than JT. although JT is signed at what is likely going to be an extreme discount if he keeps playing the same way, I don't think Subban is worth that much. I think he's worth about 3.5 or 4
he would be a welcome addition to the team if they could offer sheet him |

YES... but I think it would take more. I would give them Reinhart, Dehurtallthetime, and something else. |
