Im going off his actual quotes that I read......and i hear you about it being taboo. But, why not say it pubically from the start??? - kindlyrick
in his defense, like vukota pointed out, he didnt originally said he has "personal issues" which we all threw to the side thinking he was using it as an excuse as to why he didnt want to come to the island..maybe he said specifically what the "personal issues" are because of the hated being directed his way recently... |

But, he said he was going to stay. Not stay for a while, or a couple of weeks, he said he was staying in Russia, to play in the K. - bixll
It is what it is. But questioning whether his kid is sick or not just isn't right. That's how I feel. |

As bad as Ricky D's contract is, the one thing you can say is that 4.5 million for a goalie who was once an "all star" isnt that outrageous. But Gomez was signed outta NJ after having something like 12 goals the previous season for 8 shmill a year. CRAZYYYYYY Redden makes more than Tavares........again CRAZZYYYY - kindlyrick

How do you know it wasn't? I remember hearing about personal issues a while back. Either way as a father with a kid I would never question another man's remarks about the health of his kid regardless of how you feel about him. That shat's taboo - Vukota
Not to mention on pointblank there was a photo of him on the team bus on monday going to whatever game. He's claiming that his son is sick and he wants to be there for him, yet he's on a bus travelling with his KHL team? C'monnnnn mannnnnn |

11 service charge for each ticket plus I paid an extra 25 for express delivery. The Isles site had those tix for over a 100 each without the added chargers - Vukota

Also being a couple of hours away for a day or so is much different then being across the globe no? Nobody is saying the kid is on his death bed. |

agreed..........i think what happened was, he tried to stay and get outta the contract. Like Nabakov he realized that he had no leg to stand on. SO to squeeze a few more weeks at home, he's using this excuse now, which quite frankly im not buying. Not when he NEVER said his son was sick.............thats the first thing you say. I think this guy is a head case personally... |

Look im not trying to be a hard a$$........im just not buying it. To me, if my kid is sick and im supposed to be somewhere, its the first thing i say.
Not to mention, he didnt say he was just staying for a few weeks. He said he's staying home for good. |

Yup. There may well be a hint of truth...maybe his son is recovering from something, but it's not like he's not flying anywhere and grieving by the bedside. If it's genuinely a family health issue keeping him there, then I take it all back, but excuse me if I don't take this whiny POS at his word.
Meanwhile, there's Thomas Hickey:
Former Monarchs assistant Scott Pellerin is the head coach of the Islanders affiliate in Bridgeport and Hickey felt Pellerin had helped in the Isles' decision to take him.
"Talking to my agent, he thought there would be some interest there. At the same time, it takes some faith for a team to step up," said Hickey, who was about to begin his drive to Long Island. "When I found out the news, I was ecstatic. I owe Pelly a call on my drive out to New York. Certainly he vouched for me and I'm very thankful for that."
I'll take that attitude over Vis' any day. - UIF
ive seen hickey play many times.... he is a solid dman who will help on the power play. good puck mover..good decision maker |

i get that, but this is how LV provides money for his family. this is how he makes his living.
so being on a bus with teammates is like someone going on the subway to work. if the kid is sick, doesnt necessarily mean LV has to be bedside throughout the day; it is conceivable the kid is sick, not life threatening, and LV wants to be within range in case something goes wrong... |

I get your point and I'm skeptical as well but all I'm saying is I would never just throw to the side his personal issues especially when dealing with your family especially your kids that's all |

Snow should just get his wife to get a tattoo of Double Penetration wearing a Visnovsky jersey and everything will pan out. He'll probably want to sign here. |

having said that, if i had to decide if this is legit or an excuse....i think LV has proven he doesnt want to play for the islanders. the kid MAY BE sick, but i think LV is looking for any reason to not play here. |

Exactly, Why were the first reports, my son is ill, I will be late reporting to camp?? - bixll
The guy didn't report bcs he didn't want to play here. this started when he fought the trade the day after it happened. He said he wanted to stay there. Nothing he says now will change that. Is what it is whether his son is sick or not. |

I completely understand your point but there are so many other variables besides his son being sick. |
