Because he'll likely get 6 to 8 minutes a night here & I'd bet that will mainly be PK. But with Oshawa he'll see big minutes in all situations and will further his development.
If he shows he belongs then so be it. - ob18
Personally I don't think they'll keep him, he will get 5 games only due to Briere's wrist/hand. But if he wows or stands out, the Flyers management proves time and time again they will do whatever they see necessary to improve the team. |

That's my thought as well but we will see how it goes, it would be a shame if they burned a year of the ELC. |

This could be different, but with what they've done with Sbisa and Couturier suggests that he has a good chance of staying up all Season. But I guess his play will ultimately decide it.

Have to think though, with Briere's wrist, he'd just be taking a bottom 6 role to eat up his roster spot.
I see a 5 game cup of tea...nothing more.
Of course....I remember when we said this about a certain top 10 pick last year.... |

I'd bet he sticks, but it's possible he will get a 5 game look see and head back. I agree with OB. Rather see him in Oshawa right now |

Believe me I like his play I did see him last year before he was drafted when he played against the Ottawa 67's.
I hope the best, but I may always be one to not want to rush a players development or what I feel could be that type of situation. |

You have to know that it's not logical to think you can buy a player out, then re-sign him for less money. - MJL
Crazier things happen like trading away a player at the deadline to get him back over the summer. Or maybe you can trade briere to another team for their baggage.....they buyout briere and then we can resign.......if there is a will there is a way......... |

I suggested this before using Danny and Vinny L as examples. I'd be interested in what lengths they went to define the rules of the buyouts.
I'm sure Bettman would just have a hissy fit and void the trades tho. |

Honestly, if they decide to buy out Briere, I see no reason to bring him back. They have Giroux, Couturier and Brayden Schenn who can be the top 3 centers, and if Laughton sticks, there's 4 good young centers.
See who else is out there. There will be other FAs, other compliance buy outs and other routes to take. Get a guy who is a better fit & maybe a better two way player. |

Sbisa and Couturier are the most recent to make the team out of camp but I wouldn't call it the Flyers MO to keep them all season. Giroux and Downie both never made it their first tries. Both even flip floped from the flyers and phantoms until it was necessary to keep them. |

I think he means once they play an NHL game they have generally stuck... Giroux or Downie never did the 10 or less game stint and then went back to juniors. |
