I wouldn't be amazed if they re-signed Timonen to a short term, smaller cap hit deal, say 2 years for $4mm per - Jsaquella
I would as well depending on how he goes this season. I think the money could be found in losing a guy like Mez. Thats where it gets interesting to me though because would you retain Meszaros or roll the dice on Kimmo again.
I'd be very picky where they thrown money at next season. Other upgrades have to be made. |

Unless Briere gets some sort of chronic diagnosis I keep him around. The guy is money in the playoffs and I think good for the young kids.
With Bryzgalov, well we will see. I'd almost think if you have the opportunity to lose such a crazy contract you take it but if he performs great this year with the current D who knows. Its a lot of pressure on the guy. I think if they add a big name or a young gun with big potential on the back end next summer they have a good chance at a cup run for the next few seasons.
I'd really be interested at targeting the number one pick to get Seth Jones. A package deal of Brayden Schenn and some other smaller pieces. |

$6.5mm cap hit, declining regular season numbers, subpar defensive player and Couturier and Schenn ready for larger roles? Adios Danny |

speaking of tickets, I just bought a season ticket for the Florida Panthers at 168.00 including free parking and a red home jersey...I have to call next week to see if I can get a ticket for the flyers game in the lower tier...I think he said it also came with tickets to see Daughtry....cha ching |

Its possible the organization sees it that way. I'd miss him and the fist pumps. |

I like Danny Briere. He's a fun guy and popular teammate...but it's a capped league. |

Nice. Florida isn't a bad team to watch. I thought I read somewhere the Flyers raised ticket prices, I must be mistaken though. |

I think Danny has been pretty much a "company guy" with the Flyers. I would be surprised if he were bought out.
If the Flyers did buy him out, could they bring him back at a lower number? |

I agree. It's a bit reactionary rather than proactive. As I wrote in today's blog, the Flyers' style as well as personnel made them uniquely qualified to match up well to Pittsburgh last year. But no team matches up well to everyone. There is no such thing as a perfect system.
If the changes the Flyers want are to find ways to maximize the strengths and minimize the weaknesses of the blueline and goaltender, I think it's both desirable and downright necessary with some suspect mobility among at least half the starting defense.
But if this another case of trying to win last year's Cup this year -- which was what management was too guilty of every year from 1995 until 2009-10 -- then I think a little too much blame is being pinned on the coach they hired to implement exactly what he's preached during his tenure thus far. - bmeltzer
Great points, Bill. I am quite happy with Peter Laviolette's work as Flyers coach and I hope it continues for years to come. Give him the right ingredients and he can make the kitchen run so well, it'll need a giant Silver Chalice to contain its product. |

Basically, Kaleta and one other player (Gaustad?) were egging on Danny and I think Hartnell about their divorces. When they went into the locker room, apparently Danny got up and told the players he wasn't ready to go home at the hands of those jerks. - jmatchett

Didn't say, although it's likely the $900K threshold. |
