Everything I saw of Casey and everything I read about him tells me We will all love the guy. He seems to make everyone around him play better too. I don't see him on top 2 lines but would love him on bottom 2...

Moulson/JT/Boyes?
Grabner/Neilsen/Okposo
Bailey/Aucoin/Joensuu
Boulton/REasoner/Martin

This right... where does Ullstrom fit in this mess? call up?

They traded Hunter $2.5M/2 yrs for Rolston $5M/one yr to get to floor. Lou turned & put Hunter on waivers right away. Then he went to LA, i think?

Subban is not the answer and not worth a 1st rounder, etc + the ire of every GM in the league. Garth doesn't have any trading buddies - no way to make friends.

- jmo16

What's with the first paragraph? Am I a new isles fan that didn't know about the rolston for hunter trade?

Pk subban is worth a first rd draft pick. How you can argue otherwise is beyond me

I did play for a while. Was honestly not that great a skater. I don't know what this has to do with anything though? We are talking about a pro athlete that lends himself to criticism. Players generally don't get put on waivers unless they suck. Sorry if this offended you? BTW I may be playing with some friends from my old job in Dix Hills next week. I'll keep you posted
- Cptmjl

Not offended. haha. But I agree KO has not lived up to expectations tho, he's not the first player I would cast away. He's still a kid whose been playing a mans game for 4 years. I really hope he finds it skating with JT & MM. You & I or the next guy could prob get 10 goals on that line(82 game season) just skating to the net picking up garbage goals.

I hate that Strome has to go to Juniors instead of AHL, but sending him down was right move long term. So what is best guess on lines.

Ok played well when it did not matter on line with JT and Moulson.. Does he get that shot again or u put Boyes on that line.

- niteislander

It's either Juniors or NHL. AHL is not an option for him.

I don't have a problem with KO. I think he's a good second line forward great third liner. We were discussing Connoly being put on waivers by Toronto when I made that comment about sucking. Wasn't talking about Okposo

Go back and re-read. It was all relevant....

Even IF they did an offer sheet...no WAY MTL doesn't match. So, we get nothing and Garth looks like an even bigger d-bag than already. Sorry, where's the upside, opinions aside? This isn't fantasy league.

oh. my bad. Connolly a whole other story. Too bad they overpaid him in TO and he never lived up to the hype. Another notch on Milbury's Sphere of Bad Influence.

If the kid never got a concussion he'd be a player. Sucks the way things work out sometimes...

With all due respect, the Isles can't waste top ten picks on guys who top out as third line, maybe second line forwards. KO was taken 7th overall. Not saying he has to become a point-per-game first liner, but he's got to top out at more than a third-liner. He really should be a first line player. He has the size and skill set. He needs to put it together at some point.

and to think, we are weaker in defense. dear lord. the NHL should give the 1st and 2nd overall just because they feel bad.

I don't diagree with you. Top tens usually project to be higher in the pecking order BUT having a decent second liner as opposed to someone that Garth would pick off the waiver from another team is a plus in my book though

A buddy of mine who is a diehard Islander fan who also happens to be friends with A. Staple. According to Staple who he spoke to at the scrimmage last, the Islanders were pissed at Bailey because he hurt his knee over a month ago and never told the Islanders about it until a little while ago. If he would have told them when it first happened he could have had the surgery and could have been almost ready to go by now. That's he was told at least. Interesting stuff

Did Philly look like d-bags when they made an offer to Shea Weber?

We are perceived to be d-bag by the league now.

So why not make an offer to improve the team?

Maybe if we show some BALLs now and then. The league will change its opinion of us and players will soften their stance on rejecting the NYI's.

You dont know till ya try.

You do have a point. What's the difference really? It's not like it could possibly have a negative effect on our "image"

If that's true, I don't blame them for suspending him. He should have notified the team immediately. He could have addressed it immediately and been ready much sooner. For a guy who is playing for a contract and has a lot to prove still, it was not wise to keep this from the team and wait as long as he did to address it.

thanks. I value your opinion, especially since I really know little about the kid except from his cup of coffee last yr and what you guys here on HP tell me.

Did he impress you with his play last season with the Isles?

I assume he's playing well @ Bridgeport. But is he ready to take a regular shift on LI?

I'm not being smart, I'm looking to be informed.

Ullstrom=Trade bait!

- SCLI

If the Isles were only going to call up one player from Bridgeport this season (well, aside from Hamonic, who was down there for the lockout), it should be Cizikas. I don't know what's going on with his bad +/-, but I'm telling you, he's noticeable on just about every shift he has taken in Bport this season for either a good offensive or defensive play. I think he's ready for a bottom-six role.

If they were to call up two players, the other should be Ullstrom. He's not scoring as much this season in Bport, but he's still racking up points, and he appears ready for at least a long look watching him play. He's probably the best skating forward in Bridgeport...good speed and acceleration...and he uses his size really well -- not necessarily destroying people with hits, but protecting the puck and challenging defensemen when he has the puck. Also, I think he's probably physically developed enough to play that same game in the NHL...but who knows until he's there. He's also been good defensively, so putting him in a third-line role is perfectly fine. If his scoring touch develops, he could probably fill in on a second line briefly when injuries occur.

The only reason I put Cizikas above Ullstrom is that Cizikas is more consistently noticeable...but part of that is Ullstrom was dealing with a couple of injuries this season.
