What's his contract? I'd take him as second line center. Unfortunately, he's Martinek 2.0 - Jethro09
Actually, he was Martinek before Martinek was Martinek. |

A buddy of mine who is a diehard Islander fan who also happens to be friends with A. Staple. According to Staple who he spoke to at the scrimmage last, the Islanders were pissed at Bailey because he hurt his knee over a month ago and never told the Islanders about it until a little while ago. If he would have told them when it first happened he could have had the surgery and could have been almost ready to go by now. That's he was told at least. Interesting stuff - Vukota

and to think, we are weaker in defense. dear lord. the NHL should give the 1st and 2nd overall just because they feel bad. - Charlie21

Did Philly look like d-bags when they made an offer to Shea Weber?
We are perceived to be d-bag by the league now.
So why not make an offer to improve the team?
Maybe if we show some BALLs now and then. The league will change its opinion of us and players will soften their stance on rejecting the NYI's.
You dont know till ya try. - SCLI

If the Isles were only going to call up one player from Bridgeport this season (well, aside from Hamonic, who was down there for the lockout), it should be Cizikas. I don't know what's going on with his bad +/-, but I'm telling you, he's noticeable on just about every shift he has taken in Bport this season for either a good offensive or defensive play. I think he's ready for a bottom-six role.
If they were to call up two players, the other should be Ullstrom. He's not scoring as much this season in Bport, but he's still racking up points, and he appears ready for at least a long look watching him play. He's probably the best skating forward in Bridgeport...good speed and acceleration...and he uses his size really well -- not necessarily destroying people with hits, but protecting the puck and challenging defensemen when he has the puck. Also, I think he's probably physically developed enough to play that same game in the NHL...but who knows until he's there. He's also been good defensively, so putting him in a third-line role is perfectly fine. If his scoring touch develops, he could probably fill in on a second line briefly when injuries occur.
The only reason I put Cizikas above Ullstrom is that Cizikas is more consistently noticeable...but part of that is Ullstrom was dealing with a couple of injuries this season. - UIF
Cizikas is going to be this team's fourth line center next year. Once Reasoner is gone, the spot will go to Cizikas. He'll be better and more ready for it next September, after a couple of seasons in the "A". |

I mentioned it yesterday........but the bottom line is this : IF THIS TEAM WAS SERIOUS ABOUT WINNING, they would offer sheet PK Subban for 5 million a year. I dont wanna hear that he's not worth that price, cause quite frankly every other UFA the isles offered money and lost, got as much or more. He is EXACTLY what this team needs.......and the fact that they arent doing what it takes to get him (when he's available) is a kick in the nuts to us fans. - kindlyrick
Let me say it again for those of you with a Subban offer sheet hard on. They don't have a second round pick!!!! The compensation for a 5 mil offer is a first, a second and a third. They traded the second for Visnovsky. |

I think he'd make a perfect fourth line center, this season or next. I think he'd definitely, no question about it, give the Isles more now than Reasoner did last season. But...just my opinion, Bport players as far as how close they are to being "NHL-ready," I'd order them as Cizikas, Ullstrom, Donovan, Nino. That's not at all saying Nino's the worst of the four...the opposite is true...but just who looks more ready now to fill the roles they'd be asked to fill. |

Could he have told anyone? He was locked out until last weekend and had no access to the team nor training officials...I think? - keaner17
Of course he could have. When Nash hurt his shoulder over there he came back to get checked out by the Rangers medical staff. |

You also have to assume in this case that Subban would actually sign said offer sheet with the Isles knowing a payday could be coming from elsewhere. I'd take him, no question about it. Of course we should be willing offer just about anyone this side of a beer league. You know it's bad when you feel resigning Martinek improves our defense. |

I hear you Pete But....
Does it have to be a 2nd rd pick in the up coming draft?
Can the picks be spread over a couple or a few years?
When you owe (4) 1st rd picks they obviously come over the following 4 seasons.
Maybe the 1,2 & 3rd rd picks can be spread out also.
Just a thought, since I dont know the answer.

Okay. I wasn't totally sure since he was effectively locked out from the team and it's facility. It would be reasonable to assume then that he might not have access to the teams care either. . |

I thought the same thing at first until I read at the time Nash was coming back to get looked at. |
