Problem is I can see Jay Z rocking a Rangers jersey. Do I think he'd put fans in the seats...No....defensemen don't excite fanbases in that way. As for Brooklyn...No again. I think the stadium thing is a great sell in 2015 and beyond but the here and now remains a big problem. I could be wrong, but I could see Subban fielding big offers from other teams like Philly, Carolina, Detroit, etc...
- keaner17

You dont think PK Subban in an urban area wont garner interest from people in the community who normally wouldnt be interested in hockey? I disagree. Also, I dont think Jay Z is liking anyone except the isles, cause thats who's moving into his barn.

Im with you......anyone who disagrees is crazy. Giving up a first and a third for a proven dman who plays all facets of the game well is not a lot. He and Hamonic leading the backline for years to come would be awesome. Its well within Snows rights to offer sheet him. Other GMs have done it, and there's nothing wrong with it. Im sick and tired of seeing Frans Nielson on the point on PP. Add the fact that Subban is a righty shot (streits a lefty) and now you have legit threats from the point.

I definitely like the idea...I just don't think he'd bite. Can't hurt to try though. The idea of having Subban, Hamonic, Reinhart and perhaps Mayfield or Donnovan round out our top four in a few years would be pretty awesome.

Right, as I confirmed...he COULDN'T have told them if he wanted to. The offices were closed and team doctors are not permitted to treat the players during a lockout.
- keaner17

maybe he couldn't have told team doctors, but he sure as s**t could have gone to a doctor on his own and had the injury addressed. He didn't have to wait until the lockout was lifted and camps opened up before addressing what apparently was a serious enough injury to warrant an arthroscopic procedure. Bailey isn't some welfare recipient, some destitute person who can't afford to lay out for his healthcare. He could have gone to the doctor on his own, had the treatment and procedure and been ready for the start of the season. Hell, the team would probably have reimbursed him for getting that treatment (well, maybe not the Isles, but a real team might have).

Point is, he shouldn't have waited until last week to say something or done something about this injury. He should have addressed it right away. The lockout is a lame excuse for not addressing an injury.

Interest is one thing. Ticket sales is another. No, I don't see people buying a couple hundred dollars in hockey tickets because we found a black guy who can play hockey. That's not to say I don't think he's worth the money, I do...but I don't think defensemen translate into ticket sales.

Agreed, that's why I asked if he seeked attention at all. My comment was in response to the suggestion that he was suspended because he didn't come to the team for treatment. My response was, he couldn't.

Not to defend him but he may have throught it was a simple aggrivation that grew worse. Tough to say.

Absolutely..........add Donovan to that and we have a pretty sick backend. The isles offer that kid 5 million for 6 years trust me, he's taking it. Its time the isles make a splash......show everyone you have a heartbeat. Stop slumming on the waiver wire...

My mistake, you mentioned Donovan!

Hes not just a dman........he's a personality. I disagree with you. He'd absolutely be putting fans in the seats. Hockey is a mystery in an urban area like brooklyn. People would be buying jerseys, tickets, etc. Wait till Jay Z comes out for one of his sold out concerts rockin a Tavares jersey....

Sidenote :not all seats are a few hundred.

kinda good point....technicalities come back to bite some in the arse....wasn't Josh's fault he wasn't allowed to speak with the team...he would have been in violation. Better not to cross the side that protects him.

How do you explain Nash coming back early from Europe to get checked out by the Rangers doctor???

Curious how Nash was able to see the team doctor during the lockout. I guess the rules only apply to certain people.

Like everyone said, if Tavares got hurt overseas would he have been suspended? I think not...

Lets just say for arguments sake you couldn't go through the team. All these team doctors also have their own practice. Nothing was stopping Bailey if this story is true from making an appointment like your average joe and getting checked out. I'm guessing if true he didn't think it was that serious and figured it would heal in time and he didn't want to tell anybody?? Who knows..

Well, we definitely agree here. Buying a jersey and actually attending a game are two different things. Next time you see a black person sporting a hockey jersey go up to him and start mentioning various players on that particular team and see if he doesn't look at you like you have lobsters crawing out of your ears (thanks Ralphie!). Unfortunately, to the casual fan, offensive players are the one's who put butts in seats. A guy like Subban simply is not going to attract a notable following. If he were a 50 goal scorer, I might agree with you.

He wasn't. I checked up on that. I also posted an article from the Flyers lead physician stating they were 'not allowed to treat players during the lockout'.

I dont care who knows what about hockey. People are gonna come cause its Jay Zs building and its unknown/cool. The fact that urban areas dont know much about hockey is why they would be going to games. Its a novelty. "Whats this hockey thing all about......."

PK Subban would absolutely garner interest in an urban area......we can agree to disagree.

and aucoin does?

if this is a move for depth, why bother? the isles will have to send him down and toronto can simply claim him back, unless the Isles keep him up with the big team for 30 days, which means he'd make the roster. Seems like a waste to me unless they're bringing up nino/nelson and need to fill that hole on the farm.

- Isles_since_6

it doesnt matter if we ruin aucoin... we are doing it to not ruin our future.

My fantasy hockey draft is tonight...like last year I'm picking JT first...if he had a better team around him, he would be in the top 10...
- kear20

I took JT with my first pick and I drafted last (14th). I was very happy he fell.
