The worst part about not buying out DP is even as a backup he is going to play at least 20 games and he is gonna lose 16 of them. If the guy can still play a little and be a decent backup it would still be a bitter swallow but at least you can somewhat live with it. The fact they will keep him and he absolutely 100% sucks balls is crazy

3-2-3 last year. GAA sucked but 9 out of 16 points is not bad. Not for any backup goalie in the league. Being out of the game for previous 3-4 years takes a toll. Seriously, he's not the (metaphorically) weakest link(no pun) in the chain.

5 million for 5 years should land him.
- kindlyrick

It would land him but it would be a big over-payment.

I will be impressed if he just makes it through 48 games without serious injury. Then we can look at stats and give a fair critique. Like I said, we're stuck with him. Sheesh, let's just hope he can contribute. Tim Thomas got better with age(and girth). Having the B's defense kinda helped too, I know.

Getting Subban could be giving the Habs Nate Mac. This is the Kessel deal all over again, potentially. If the Isles #1 pick went to the Habs and they got Nate, might not be good.

500k more than Ricky D, and the same amount Rolston got last year. The isles really know how to pick and chose their spending.

No the additions of Martinek, Finley and Hickey are the answer.

He is one of many but definitely one of if not the weakest. The team plays like they know if it comes over the blue line it's going in.

Right, both of which are/were gross over-payments. Subban is good, but not a superstar. I like him and would love to see him in an Isles sweater but not at that kind of money.

I said I'm with ya on something else not getting Subban. I wouldn't throw him an offer sheet when we'll be getting a top 3 pick next year

Why not an offer sheet? You dont wanna part with two draft picks?

Don't worry. You won't be seeing him in an Islanders sweater even if he was asking for 2 million. He's just not bad enough for this team.

Ironic you left out his GAA avg. They have to score 4 or 5 goals a night to win. Stop it
