See the thing is, in year 5 of the rebuild, with prospects at EVERY position. The time to make the next step is now. Getting a 23 yr old talented dman, shores up our top pair for at least 5 years (Subban and Hamonic). Bringing in waiver wire hopefuls does not take this team to the next level. I dont wanna hear that he's not worth 5 million cause quite frankly, you gotta give to get. If the isles were in on Drury and Gomez, and tried to get Paul Martin, and Ehrhoff............ALL of those guys were getting overpaid. Thats what you gotta do if you target a specific player and want to get him.

For me, im tired of the draft picks..........enough is enough. They have enough talent in the system to make this move. There will be other drafts. Ok so everyone has a hard on for McKinnon and Seth Jones. There will be players like that next year, and the year after. Cant keep drafting.......its time to get to the next level.

Hamonic and Subban, for differing reasons, are pretty on par with eachother. Their points are comparable.

Subban is prone to take himself out of position when he goes for those highlight reel hits. He's also prone to taking a ton of penalties because he can be a hot-head.

I wouldn't give Hamonic $5m/5 years right now either.

Real teams have real power plays. You cant have a real PP when you're 3rd line center (who wears a 2nd line hat) is on the point.

3-2-3 last year. GAA sucked but 9 out of 16 points is not bad. Not for any backup goalie in the league. Being out of the game for previous 3-4 years takes a toll. Seriously, he's not the (metaphorically) weakest link(no pun) in the chain.

Stats mean nothing to me........what do they base that on? How many PPs you have versus how many goals you score? Its skewed. The stat that means the most is we didnt finish in the top 8......and all teams played 82 games.
