What I find funny is alot of people think there's no rush. Like they have become complacent and alot of Isles fans like drafting and researching picks more than the actual team. That's what years of having an inept GM/owner will do to a fanbase! - Cptmjl
Charles Wang was picked at #62 in THN's 100 people of power & influence.. Gretzky was picked at #76... yha 14 behind Wang!

There has been more and more going to games and watching hockey. The more black athletes there are the more black fans there will be! - Cptmjl
you can typically count the amount of black fans at a hockey game on 1 hand.the increase in the amount of black players over the last decade has only been modest. There's a variety of reasons for this. Most importantly is the cost of the equipment for children. While I do expect we will see Modest increases in the total amount of black players I doubt the fanfare will grow that much since most don't play hockey. It's much more affordable to buy a pair of sneakers and a basketball or football then several 100 dollars of equipment. 2 garner any spiking interest you would need someone who makes headlines. Defenseman rarely do that. |

Again i say, the fact that our third line center (wearing a 2nd line hat) is on the point should speak volumes. |

exactly. And you're talking about a goaltender which is going to create a lot more fanfare than any defenseman. Again I'm not saying I wouldnt like to have him on the team I'm only saying that I don't think it would have any real impact on the demographic of our fans. |

GTFO? The new NHLPA spokeperson? - Cptmjl
I quote...
Campoli's hockey stock has fallen, but he has been a major player for the NHLPA. The Toronto native helped steer the union after the paul kelly era ended in controversy & has been front & center in labor talks as a member of the PA's exec board. The 28 y/o is on the leagues competition committee, making him as infromed an NHLer as you will find.

I'll even go a step further for all the stat junkies:
Niklas Kronwall 36 pts -2 makes 4.75 million
Drew Doughty 36 pts -2 makes 7 million
Dan Hamhuis 37 pts -4 makes 4.5 million
Jack Johnson 38 pts -7 makes 4.4 million
Brent Seabrook 34 pts +21 makes 5.8 million
PK Subban 36 pts +9 is 5 million a year really that much for Subban?? The above mentioned are all right around PK in the stats (left out Lidstrom who had 2 less pts than Subban haha) |

I'd take any of those 5 defenseman ahead of subban except perhaps jack johnson
***edit*** look at it this way, would you trade John Tavares for PK subban? NO chance. That's essentially what you're doing if you give up a top 3 first round pick. That's a good shot at 1st overall and a franchise player.
I think you go for the offer sheet if you're not giving up a top 3 first round pick. I don't know how comfortable I am with the Isles finishing above that even with subban. There are so many, many holes on this team and we're playing the bulk of the season against 4 playoff teams.
I don't think montreal walks from that offer sheet either, I think it takes something far higher to get them to consider walking away and we don't have a second round pick to offer anything higher, and he wouldn't be worth it. |

Im not sure where your math is, but how do you get Tavares in this equation? You're going on too many assumptions. You're assuming the isles will finish last and then get lucky to get the first overall. You can take any of those guys over Subban, but may i remind you he's 23 years old........and the best dman on his team.
