He was sharp for the first 15 minutes of the game and then he turned back into the DP we've all come to despise in the last couple of seasons
- Vukota

Well that's good, that is 15 minutes more than any of us have seen in the last 6 years

I couldn't take this blog seriously once I read the name of the blogger that was at the presser: Ken D!ck of Okposonet.

Killed is aggressive... but you were not pleased when I brought up his several chances wide open in front of the net without scoring. I said I was concerned about him not finishing.
- niteislander

because he sucked.. he did not belong in the NHL.. but if he had to be there for some reason.. the 4th line was where he belonged

would fit the 2nd line center issue until Strome is ready...but expensive...

That and he was going against one of the worst D's in the league last night
- Vukota

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it's the worst

Why would he be worried? Guy can be a consistently horrible coach and still hold a job. Where else can he find that? Guy has got it made.
- Cptmjl

You could change the word coach (see bold lettering) to GM and you would be talking about Snow...

He's due to make 4 million this year with a 4.75 cap hit. He's a free agent after this season could be worth the 1 year gamble. Could always move him for a pick at the deadline if they are out of it

I would point to the Fistric hit and concussion as the point he started to go backwards last year. He did not look the same after that hit.
- niteislander

He obviously has talent. He should've never been brought up in the first place(even though I felt he was from what I read, what the he11 do I know?). Putting him on the fourth line with reasoner and Pandalfo was beyond stupid, if he turns this around the kid deserves the credit.

Or just grab Gomez for a year at a 1/4 of that. Scott isnt an injury away from retiring either.

Plus you'll only pay 67% of his salary of $4 Million this year due to lockout...type of guy Wang and Snow like...let's do it...

I honestly think this is his plan, a team of first rounders. Who cares whether they are good or not?

Yeah but Connolly is a lot better than Gomez. I would try for Connolly over Gomez

What's his contract? I'd take him as second line center. Unfortunately, he's Martinek 2.0

Connoly was an injury away from retiring the day after he was drafted. I'm not big on Gomez to be honest. I know you're a fan of him coming here(of course IF we don't grab anyone better which we all know we won't). I didn't like Gomez when he was with the Devils. I think he was a good third line center and was good in the playoffs. Now I have no idea. If we got him on the cheap for a year I wouldn't lose my mind. The problem I have with players like Gomez or Redden is if these guys don't pan out the Islanders have a bad habit of beating a dead horse, not making changes. Leaving them in the line up if they're stinking it up. If they did get one or both of them I'd hope they would stop the bleeding if it didn't work? That's really the only reason I'm wary with these guys.

They would both be stop gaps till players in our system were ready to step up, or we move into our new home & get free agents that want to join this little group of rag tag misfits looking for adventure!!

Pretty concerned about Martinek. I thought his play had really declined his last year with us and then he had major concussion last year. Has he looked that good that they pencil him in automatically? We picked up 2 kids and would rather see what they can do. If they fail, then I am good with taking a look at Ness and Donovan. Feel like every shift is going to be Martinek's last. Like the guy, but I am not sure he has anything left. But I only saw glimpses of scrimmage last night so I am interested to hear everyone's impression

I get why he does it. Giving these kids one last shot at realizing their talent. Most of them were in the first round for a reason. It's a low risk if the Islanders make it a low risk investment by not keeping them in when they shouldn't be. If they work out great if they don't experiment is over and move on. I don't have a problem with it. Now if they did this along with adding players they KNOW will help the team immediately it would be incredibly beneficial to this team. Think about it, having a sure thing and picking up these kids that may or may not pan out? If one of them works out along with a bonafide NHL player it speeds up this rebuild that much quicker. It's elementary crap like this that makes this "rebuild" maddening for me and other fans.

I find it very amusing that the same 2 guys who killed me when I was down on him early last year are now saying he did not have any good flashes... He did not score but he did have some very good shifts yes. Break aways, Hits, etc.
- niteislander

What are you talking about? Everybody knew he didn't belong up with the big club last year. We are knew he was over matched and rushed and that he couldn't be judged so when guys like you would kill him we would tell you those exact words. Also it went from some Great flashes to some good shifts. Which is it?

No. He has a pulse, that's why he was penciled in at this point.
