Nino did nothing well last year. That's why he had two points and had the worst plus/minus in hockey among forwards over 55 games last year. Nino was God-awful at the NHL level. He didn't belong in the NHL and he showed it night in and night out. Now, he's finally being brought along properly, and having success to boot, and people want to go back to the same, flawed reasoning on development and bring him back up to the NHL. Forget it.

Let the kid do his thing in the "A". This franchise has got to get out of the habit of rushing prospects because they need salary numbers to reach salary floor requirements or because they simply can't find anyone better willing to sign with them to allow the prospects to properly develop.

- Jethro09

I 100% agree with this. What I find ridiculous is that they are in an enviable position with their cap space, they actually have to fill up that space to reach the floor! They then utilize it by rushing prospects and signing players like Rolston, Pandalfo, and to a lesser degree Vis. Vis of course has more upside(even though I still want him no where near this team)but his cap hit I'm sure is what made him attractive.

Any chance we can trade Okposo for Benn or Subban? Does Okposo have that kind of value anymore?

I saw him get 3 short shifts. His stride is ridiculous........its like he can get end to end in a few strides. Yes, he can skate, and i woulda liked to have seen more of him. He was light years better than Carkner.

What's his contract? I'd take him as second line center. Unfortunately, he's Martinek 2.0

There has to be a reason why the leafs (who have unlimited money) are putting Connelly on waivers.......it cannot be for money reasons.

Rushing him or not, he was better than 90 percent of the isles last night
- kindlyrick

I didn't see the game, so I can't comment. He should look pretty good, he's been skating and playing a season since October. Most of the guys on the Isles haven't played competitively since last season. I just don't understand how fans of this team can want to rush Nino again after seeing how badly he played last season and how Josh Bailey has turned out after being rushed by Snow also. You don't see successful organizations rushing 18-20 year olds to the NHL for a reason.

Can he? A few of the Buffalo posters said he wasn't a good skater? If he's got size and he can skate sounds good.
- Cptmjl

Tell you one thing......Streit looked damn good last night. He and Tavares have chemistry together. Not sure if it stems from playin in the Swiss league, but both of them were talking to each other before faceoffs and were finding each other on the ice...

I dont disagree, but seeing him last night made me think. He looked like a completely different player. Beating guys one on one......going to the net. He seems to really have chemistry with Brock Nelson. Im not suggesting he makes the team........im just saying that the future looks real good if those two are gonna be line 2.

I thought the team last night is who the isles are gonna put on the ice this season. They dont make the playoffs, and they might even have the best shot at the first overall pick. Thats not me being negative Nancy, thats just me being real. That team last night, beats noone in our division.

keep in mind last night's scrimmage wasn't a full contact scrimmage. They bumped, but there was no hitting. Finley is going to have to be able to use his size, reach and will need to thump some bodies. If he tried doing that last night it would have been a bad scene, especially with Streit's injury still fairly fresh (thanks Moulson)

***edit***

as far as Nino, I'm likely one of the only ones, but if we have a hole in the top six (and if Boyes doesn't start playing much better we absolutely do) then I'd like to see Nino get a call up to play second line right wing. If he produces and plays with energy and drive, I'd keep him up.

I mentioned it yesterday........but the bottom line is this : IF THIS TEAM WAS SERIOUS ABOUT WINNING, they would offer sheet PK Subban for 5 million a year. I dont wanna hear that he's not worth that price, cause quite frankly every other UFA the isles offered money and lost, got as much or more. He is EXACTLY what this team needs.......and the fact that they arent doing what it takes to get him (when he's available) is a kick in the nuts to us fans.

Isles just claimed Keith Aucoin off waivers....

That puts the Isles at 24 players with 2 injuries....
Strome and Reinhart probably headed back to Bridgeport soon.

There was some hitting.........more specifically from guys who were new. Clearly guys were laying off the body.....but its hockey; there's contact. I watched Finley skate and for a guy his size, he looked pretty damn good to me. Again, i say, he was better than Carkner
