that's an interesting pick up, but then do they push finley or hickey back through waivers? Or send Reinhart and Strome back to make room for tomorrow's cut down?
*interesting as in, I wonder why they did that? He's 34 and played as a depth defenseman for Toronto. Not sure I see anything better than hickey or finley |

Tell you one thing......Streit looked damn good last night. He and Tavares have chemistry together. Not sure if it stems from playin in the Swiss league, but both of them were talking to each other before faceoffs and were finding each other on the ice... - kindlyrick
Yeah, I thought the time they spent playing in Europe paid off as far as keeping them in game shape. Tavares and Streit looked the best on the Isles squad. Surprised you were down on Ness. I thought he looked better than most d-men last night...3 goals for the BPort team on the man advantage and he was quarterbacking the power play. He also wasn't embarrassed in his own zone that I saw, which surprised me. He's been bad defensively in Bport this year, although better lately than the beginning of the season...ever since they broke up the Ness-Landry pair, Ness has looked better in his own zone. Not good, but better.
Disagree a bit on Finley, too. I only noticed him twice...once along the boards where he inexplicably softly passed the puck to the other team, and once in front of his own net when he lost the puck in his skates, then gave it away, although they called a weak hooking penalty on BPort on that play. I'm hoping he impresses though. 6'8 with a bit of a mean streak is something the Isles could desperately use. |

There was some hitting.........more specifically from guys who were new. Clearly guys were laying off the body.....but its hockey; there's contact. I watched Finley skate and for a guy his size, he looked pretty damn good to me. Again, i say, he was better than Carkner - kindlyrick
Stop using Carkner as a reference, you're scaring me |

That puts the Isles at 24 players with 2 injuries....
Strome and Reinhart probably headed back to Bridgeport soon. - Bags502
What a joke..........but then again, Keith Aucoin is a Massechussets guy. Makes total sense. Bring in another center. Especially a guy who's 5'8 170 lbs. JOKE

I mentioned it yesterday........but the bottom line is this : IF THIS TEAM WAS SERIOUS ABOUT WINNING, they would offer sheet PK Subban for 5 million a year. I dont wanna hear that he's not worth that price, cause quite frankly every other UFA the isles offered money and lost, got as much or more. He is EXACTLY what this team needs.......and the fact that they arent doing what it takes to get him (when he's available) is a kick in the nuts to us fans. - kindlyrick
That salary would cost the Isles a first, second and third rounder as per the compensation guidelines in last CBA. I don't know if its been changed at all in the new CBA. Thing is, that First rounder is likely a 2013 first rounder and will probably be a top ten, maybe even a top five pick. Want to give that up for Subban? |

Just looked at his numbers...
Seems like a depth centermen that is an assist guy. Only played a little over a 100 NHL games and hes 34.
Maybe hes good at faceoffs? |

This teams has glaring needs, but centermen are not one of them. There is no need for a little guy like that who's played a few seasons in the NHL and never scored more than 5 goals. We already have Reasoner..! |

Snow is giving an all new definition to "slumming" this pre-season. Its like going to a junkyard to find furniture for your house. |

god I hope not. No interest in seeing the return of a richard park type center that goes out to take all faceoffs despite the fact he has no talent and after winning a draw he's next to useless on the ice.
Looking at his height, his stats, I don't see any value here at all. This move confuses me, especially with Strome available for 5 games and Nino available. Why would we bother with Aucoin?

If they dumped Reasoner and put him in as the 4th center you wouldn't hear a peep out of me, 37 pts in 100 games +7. With that said you know he'll be our third line center with Nielsen being our second. We are (frank)ed and are getting more (frank)ed as this plays out |

we can't do that anyway as we don't have our second rounder. Best we could offer would be 5 mil and I can't see Montreal letting him go at that price. I don't see the Isles offering more anyway. |
