I don't know about that. If you look at both players, they're pretty even statistically. Del Zotto has had 2 good years, including his first year in the League. I see them as pretty equal. - MJL
I give the slight edge to Subban only because he hasn't faltered the way Del Zotto did in his second year. Other than that, I would say they are comparable. |

A 2 way player like Couturier is an important player. If all goes well, the Flyers are going to have a solid 1-2 punch at Center with Giroux and Couturier for a long time. That is very important to building a potential Cup Winner. Not as important as Goaltending and Defense, but right up there. I see Couturier as somewhere between J Staal and J Toews. - MJL
Agreed. |

1. Can Ilya Bryzgalov rebound?
After a rough start to his first season with the Flyers, Bryzgalov was one of the NHL's hottest goaltenders last year, nearly breaking the modern-day shutout streak record from March 1-15, 2012. A high-ankle sprain sidelined Bryzgalov just before the postseason, when he was lit up by the Penguins in one of the most high-scoring series in Stanley Cup playoff history. Bryzgalov, 32, says he knows more about Philadelphia, the franchise, the city, the media and the fans this time around. He seems more relaxed, more patient, and more comfortable. We'll see whether it helps him in the crease.
High ankle sprain? I had thought he chipped a bone in his foot. How did I miss a high ankle sprain? |

I don't think you missed the high ankle sprain, I think Seravalli missed the bone chip.

Here's a question:
Would they keep Couturier as 2nd line Center and bring Briere back at Wing to have Laughton as the 3rd line Center? - hereticpride
I don't think they're going to move Briere around the line-up because of an 18-year-old. |

He should be promoted to Flyers Capologist.

James Mirtle says he hears the Isles have put in a claim on Tim Connolly on waivers...that would make 4 claims for the Isles this week. Why the Hell couldn't they have claimed Lilja? |

It's cool how Doug Hamilton is already an NHL superstar apparently. I must have missed the season where Couturier made the team and contributed in numerous ways to the success of the team during the regular season and then even upped the ante in the playoffs against top players in the game. - eayost
Sometimes we forget the picks are very young and sometimes even younger than we think. Couturier was "old" in his draft in that he just missed the previous year's draft by a short time. Hamilton, on the other hand, was the youngest kid taken in his draft and just missed sliding to the next year by a few days.
You need a couple of years to let the age thing settle itself out. |

Someone commented on Ek's latest blog asking if the Islanders had become the league's dumpster. Needless to say, people ran with that. |

Hello all. I feel I have missed so much. Working 40 hours and also going to school for some computer certifications for 30 hours a week. Nice to be almost done. Did I read something about hockey? |

I've seen the NBC NHL promo's but not that one, must be market specific. The thing that stood out to me was that they are trying to "avenge their playoff loss to Pitt". Didn't realize you played the local college in the first round. |

There have been rumors.
I'm so pumped for tomorrow. I've had "One Day More" from Les Miserables stuck in my head all day (although I've had at least one Les Mis sing stuck in my head since I saw the movie on Christmas). ONE DAY MORE 'TIL FLYERS HOCKEY!!! |

It's also funny because when the narrator is saying that, the video is showing Giroux scoring on "The Shift".

pronger and kimmo were old then and foresight dictated that we get someone w/ real top pair potential. - isaiah520
The Flyers acquired Schenn, Simmons, Couts, Voracyk and Cousins for Carter and Richards. A very good haul if you ask me. They could easily turn some of those pieces into Dmen. The question is will they or should they? |

Very pumped as well. Watched the preview shows on TSN and sportsnet.. seems the consensus is that the Flyers will finish about 5th and there is ahuge love fest for Pitt to win the conf and the cup.. I love being the underdog.
Also, I didn't know that Ahsam went to the Rangers as well jebus.. they are gonna be hell to play this year.,., |

and grossmann was aquired with the second round pick they got from LA (along with the 3rd rounder they got for Powe) so Schenn, Simmonds, Couturier, Voracek, Cousins, Grossman for Carter, Richards and Powe. Nice return if you ask me |

Flyers then could've got Weber for Schenn, Couts and a 1st, but people would've been female doging about giving up too much. |

As long as Malkin Crosby Letang and Fluery is on that team, they are favorites every year. |

Well, I suppose Fleury can rebound after last year's meltdown, but OMG he was bad. I guess Vokoun is the insurance. |
