Not reviewable - Jsaquella
Should be.. if the puck crosses the line before the whistle blows they should be able to review a good goal or not. I feel like I've seen plays reviewed where they go back and listen to see if the whistle was blown before the puck crossed the line.
Is it not reviewable because the ref waved it off regardless? |

To me, a lot of the issues they're having boil down to rust and lack of cohesion.
Even the penalties are coming on transition turnovers where a pass is flubbed or ill advised and picked off, resulting in an odd man rush or fast transition where guys get caught having to change direction quickly.
If the same troubles exist after a few more games, it'll be time to worry. Right now, they have to work and work hard to correcting it and shaking the rust off. - Jsaquella
How are the issues rust related? Aren't all the teams in the same boat? No exhibitions etc... And I thought the Flyers were one of the teams that had the most players on the roster playing in Leagues during the lockout. Wasn't that supposed to be a perceived advantage starting the season? |

Definitely would be a nice change, I just think the Flyers don't have enough fire power to run such an offensive minded system. |

The players who didn't play are rusty. Those who did are tired.

The system has nothing to do with it.

When Claude Giroux is passing the puck to a wide open spot at the point, there's a real lack of cohesion.
Even when guys have been playing, they haven't played together. Also, a lot of the core guys haven't played at all-Coburn, Timonn, Luke Schenn, Grossmann all didn't play during lockout. And several who did play stopped playing weeks before the lockout ended, like Giroux, Simmonds and Voracek.
Way too often the Flyers are forcing passes, or making bad passes, and it's leading to bad situations. That kind of stuff is definitely rust.
Other teams are dealing with it, too. Vancouver and Detroit got their doors blown off last night. |

All I know is the PK better get their collective heads out of their ass. An undisciplined team, with a poopshow for a PK, and an immobile defense is something that cannot be overcome. |

I understand what you are saying, they are out of synch. But that would be an issue for every team in the League. |

Not time to panic yet, but if they're still unable to make good passes, etc in 4 or 5 more games, then yeah, I'll worry |

I was expecting to see a lot out of B.Schenn in the first couple of games considering he's conditioned and has been playing well in the AHL.But, he hasn't really shown much as of yet, hopefully he can step it up a bit |

There are too many heavy legs on the backline for my liking also.

No need to panic yet. Agreed. Next two games are very tough. Have to get a few points. In a short season a four game losing streak to start would really set a team back a bit. |

I thought for some periods of today's game, that he played well and picked it up. But it wasn't consistent. We definitely need more out of him. But that can be said for a number of players.

Some shifts he looked okay and there was others where if he could have reacted quicker maybe something would have panned out. But as you said a lot of players need to step their games up not just B.Schenn |

My only issue that I have with the defense is that they lack offensive support from the defense. They don't have that element of a defenseman coming late or moving up on the rush. It's hard to score a lot of goals with just a forward attack. That is going to be the biggest area where they're going to miss Carle. But we have to give time to both Meszaros and Coburn to get their legs under them.

The refs weren't good no question, but you can't blame them for the loss. Flyers did have a 2-1 lead. |

Just my 2 cents. Yesterdays game was a good one where either team could have come out on top. No complaints there, I actually thought they would be beat badly and they looked great. Today, coaching was the nail in the coffin for them. The too many men on the ice and bad shift/no shift on the PK was the decisive moment. That combined with lack of secondary scoring. Read, Simmonds, Coots, etc... look like they are sitting back and not attacking. I really hope Briere brings some jam to the second line and it trickles down. They need a little jump from someone other then Hartnel and Giroux. All the trade panic talk is about 1 week too premature. In 1 week, Lavy and a trade can be discussed, until then fans need to be patient.
Oh and Bryz looks great! |
