They didn't look good at all, but the refs clearly decided this game. - LJF
It's very rare that I point at the officiating and say that had a huge hand in the outcome, but their fingerprints were all over this loss. |

My only issue that I have with the defense is that they lack offensive support from the defense. They don't have that element of a defenseman coming late or moving up on the rush. It's hard to score a lot of goals with just a forward attack. That is going to be the biggest area where they're going to miss Carle. But we have to give time to both Meszaros and Coburn to get their legs under them. - MJL
I'd like to see them give Gustaffson a try once he's healthy. A little extra speed and mobility couldn't hurt |

It will be interesting to see what happens there. They have some Cap issues to work out. Not that I think Foster is bad. But I'd rather have Gustafsson in there, for what I've seen of Foster so far.

Question.
Do the Flyers make the JVR for Schenn trade if Schenn was a left handed shot? |

Foster can give you a pretty decent shot from the point but with that being said Gustaffson can give you a lot more in terms of carrying the puck up the ice and mobility in your own zone. I'd probably rather have Gusty in there as well |

I wouldn't have made the trade either way |

Good question. Not sure that they do. Schenn has to be given time to get acclimated, but I haven't been impressed so far. Looks like he's skating in mud. |

C'mon, the refs didn't decide the game. The players did. - MJL
How can you say that when they pulled back two clear goals
Also the special teams aren't so special |

It's way too soon for that I agree. I do understand it though. Slow start to first two games of the season (commonly blamed on lack of preparation by coach), GM and owner questioning his system, poor line changes and too many men on the ice penalty that lead to the game winner. Way, way, too soon but I understand why. |

Gustaffson has a high ankle sprain, even if he returns somewhat soon, that can be an injury that lingers all year, and certainly effect his mobility.
That being said, the Flyers need some speed on the backend, they have too many guys who are redundant. |

I've seen some things that I like from Schenn. He doesn't look like he's skating in mud to me. In fact I think his skating is better then I was led to believe from listening to a lot of fans. I think a lot of people are just parroting what they've heard. He skates well enough to play in the NHL.

If he's healthy I say you might as well give him a try, his mobility can't get much worse than the guys that are out there right now. |

I would agree. If he shows he is healthy I wouldn't be opposed to giving him a chance. |

Definitely would be a nice change, I just think the Flyers don't have enough fire power to run such an offensive minded system. - FreshFlyer
nope to play a system he wants we need quick players and snipers
lavi either learns how to play with the players or takes a hike |

They didn't pull back two clear goals. The first one was a bad call and should've been a goal. The same thing happens every NHL Season. You get some breaks and some breaks go against you. You get some calls and some go against you. They tend to even out over a Season. The last one the ref lost sight of the puck and blew it dead. Happens all the time. The Flyers lost the game because they gave up 3 PP goals. |

I find it interesting that many are referencing the Flyers system, but I haven't read anyone mention the changes to the system that the Flyers have played with for the first few games.

Schenn made a couple mistakes... overall I think he played well though. His outlet passes were strong and I thought he was frequently in the right spot. He deflected a few passes with his stick on the ice and cleared the puck well today. What I would like to see is more of those 270 hits he had last season.... haven't seen that in the last 2 games. Still - I prefer Schenn over JVR... maybe I'll end up eating those words, maybe not. |

I think he is adjusting his game. Make the hit when it's there, but don't take yourself out of position to do so. |

We're looking for a scapegoat to take Carle's place. You're not making this any easier.
I'd say straight up, one for one, no. |
