There was about three people dogging him already. A bad game and that will multiply substantially. I'm not saying in particular will be leading the mob either. - JoeRussomanno
Well people have to be realistic. I'm not asking him to post a .935 save %, just looking for him like I said to allow fewer soft goals, and play a more balanced season. Last year he was great at times, and brutal at times. He just needs to even that out. |

I've actually noticed one thing, the center for the Flyers, in most cases, is staying higher up in the slot on the initial dump/retrieval phase of entry to the zone. A mild adjustment, but important adjustment from last year when you had all 3 guys barreling into the zone only to allow the other team through the neutral zone with ease if they made a good breakout or the goaltender could handle the puck. - flyers20032002
Absolutely. And you're the first guy other then myself to mention it. For all the talk of systems that is posted. I don't know if it's a temporary change until they get their legs under them, or a permanent one. But I didn't see the Flyers using anything close to the normal 2-3 press forecheck or even the weakside lock forecheck that they've used in the past. Just a far more generic and simple 2-1-2 or at times a 1-2-2 forecheck. We'll see over time if it changes.

I prefer them maintaining the current attack especially with the current personnel. Their issues are more about individual play than coaching. |

Not really. I want the guy to play well. If he doesn't the Flyers are going to be back to square 1 at the goaltender position. |

When Briere returns he will help. He's somewhat of a sniper. |

To me it's a double edge. I don't think they generated nearly enough pressure on the forecheck or in the offensive zone. But is that because of the change in the forecheck scheme, or because they just aren't in sync yet. I tend to think it's the latter. And they only gave up one 5 on 5 goal in 2 games. So I like that aspect of it. I'd prefer they mix and match, and be able to play both styles. Attack hard when it's there, and read and react and play less aggressive when it's not there.

I hate Philly as much as I hate Al Qaeda, but i will say that losing 2 games is just that losing 2 games no more no less. In the span of the entire 48 game season those games arnt going to mean much. The flyers are going to be in the playoffs and im sure that the pens will end up playing you jerks at some point. I love the fact that we beat you on your opening night, and i know your going to come back with "yeah well we beat you in the playoffs last year". The fun thing is when we beat you in the playoffs we went on to win the Stanley Cup. With that (dinosaur turnover machine slow as frozen mud) Grossman, and (frail elf looking 5 years past his expiration date) Timonen anchoring your blue line you are in worlds of trouble this year. Its not your creepy goalie that is going to lose games for you this year. - nbartley9
I guess 9/11 is comparable to losing to the Flyers in the playoffs.
Good analysis genius. |

Glad there is one good student on here that is paying attention to my teachings. Everyone else can put on their cone hats and write on the board "we need a scoring winger" x 100 |

Yup. Really like what I have seen from Laughton thus far. Kid looks like a keeper. Not crazy about him burning a year of his ELC, but if he plays the way he is right now he's certainly one of the 12 best forwards on the roster. When Briere returns it will be interesting to see what happens. |

rough two games but as has been said here, cant read that much into it. still think it is too early for you guys to crucify schenn. i do however think giroux misses jagr a bit on his line right now, although there are still too many good players on that team to have a true offensive deficiency. |

Looking at how they flub shots and mishandle the puck it's safe to say they're out of sync. It'll take a couple more games but I'm not ready to hit the panic button. |

I think Laughton needs to be returned. Obviously good enough to stay but for half a season really stings.
I know its way early but is anyone second guessing not wanting to add Couts and B Schenn in the deal for Webber? |

I was ready to say goodbye to courts for weber over the summer. They could have filled in another player to keep the partridge family together. |

i could see that for weber, but coots for subban right now is an overly desperate move right now in my opinion |

Good point. Not sure what will happen. That is a steep price to pay, but to get a franchise defenseman the caliber of Shea Weber I think I would do it.
I wish Nashville didn't match the offer sheet. Had they signed Suter, they likely wouldn't have been able to. |

And then instead of thinking that there are holes in the defense, we'd be discussing how shorthanded they are upfront. |
