No way. Couturier is still under ELC and has crazy upside. Weber comes with that cap hit. I would trade them if they had the same cap hit, but not with this difference. You have to have guys that are good for a low salary on the team. You can take the $6-7mil from not doing this deal and sign a top dman next offseason and not leave a hole on the offense. - phisixfly

It's a shame. One breakdown and the puck is in the net. Another ridiculous lucky bounce and the puck is in the net. Flyers overall played a strong period. They deserve a better result then that. They were skating, forechecking hard. And for the most part were solid defensively, and didn't give NJ much. - MJL
I didn't think it was that good of a period for the Flyers. Most everything was along the perimeter and the Devils got to most of the loose pucks. Would say that even if score weren't 2-0. |

True, and I felt in the first two games the Flyers didn't deserve any breaks. But they did in that period. Overall other then the score they were clearly the better team. - MJL
They did play better than NJ in that period. However, they need to start creating some breaks of their own. |

Jagr, JVR, Carle, Pronger. This is a lot of offense and a lot of D to lose. We are lesser then what we were last season and lesser then what we have been in past seasons. If fans are calling for Bobby Ryan, I have zero issue with that. Giroux cannot do it on his own. He needs help and we need a guarantee. It's ugly out there. - SuperSchennBros
The result was ugly. Overall that period the Flyers play wasn't ugly. Pronger played 13 games last year for the Flyers. They added Luke Schenn, who played a strong 1st period. The Flyers have plenty of offense. And they had numerous quality scoring chances that period. |

I'll tank this year for Seth Jones - GirouxForTheShow
Sad to say, so would I. I can survive 3 months of poop to get a franchise D. But I mean look at this game. Couterier and Schenn have been atrocious this season. I mean god awful. Grossmann looks worse then Rathje and Hatcher combined. Guys are getting wide open looks and not finishing. Powerplay is a disgrace and penalty kill couldn't stop a peewee team. I'm just thinking of how close they were to Shea Weber... 27 minute a night stud who plays the PK, PP QB, booming shot, and shuts down the top line of the other team. I understand why we kept Coots, I do, but looking at this team, I don't know if they can survive without a Shea Weber, while I KNOW they can survive without a Sean Couterier. |

I thought it was solid. Compared to the first two games, the Flyers were aggressive and up on their skates. They got the puck to the net a number of times. Hartnell had a couple of good chances. They didn't have good PP's. But 5 on 5 I thought they played a strong period.

You can mentioned all the players the Flyers lost or should pursue but in my opinion it won't matter. This team has had terrible first periods with Richards, Carter, Pronger, Jagr or whoever has been on the roster the last 3 years. The one constant is Lavy. There is no excuse for a team to come out unprepared to play game after game whether regular season or playoffs. Yeah he uses his time outs to rally the team when they are down by multiple goals. How bout don't allow the first two goals every game while sleepwalking thru the first period. |
