I didn't think it was that good of a period for the Flyers. Most everything was along the perimeter and the Devils got to most of the loose pucks. Would say that even if score weren't 2-0. - bmeltzer
Agreed. I saw the effort but not the smarts. This team doesn't excite me. There are many holes in my opinion. |

You can mentioned all the players the Flyers lost or should pursue but in my opinion it won't matter. This team has had terrible first periods with Richards, Carter, Pronger, Jagr or whoever has been on the roster the last 3 years. The one constant is Lavy. There is no excuse for a team to come out unprepared to play game after game whether regular season or playoffs. Yeah he uses his time outs to rally the team when they are down by multiple goals. How bout don't allow the first two goals every game while sleepwalking thru the first period. - psuhockey
They don't start winning some games and I could see Lavy on the out. And I like Lavy. |

He's been on the ice for every goal the Flyers have allowed this season, except the 4th Buffalo goal on Sunday |

i thought with so many guys playing during the lockout they would look more polished. by polished i mean be able to at least complete crisp tape to tape passes and know where to be on the ice. |

I don't want to turn on him. But I'm having serious concerns that B. Schenn and Couterier have been two of the worst players to start the season and both of them have been playing. I fully expected the two of them to be producing at least at the start of the season. |

ugh, starting out the season 0 - 4 will not be a positive, especially in a shortened season.
come on boys ... we need the next goal. |

This is an ugly start to a season and the other poster makes a valid point about the first periods. |

The second Devils goal should have never happened. Bryzgalov should have gloved the initial shot. He feebly waved his glove out at it and came up with air, leading to the chinese fire drill behind the net. |

Flyers get away with one, I cant believe how wide open that guy in front of the net just was. Thankfully they couldn't get the puck to him. |

A bad season was always very possible. Simmonds, Hartnell, and Talbot all had career years last year that they might be hard pressed to replicate. Schenn, Couturier, and Read all produced as rookies. There is something called a sophomore slump for reason. Richards, Carter, and Giroux all experienced it themselves.
If this season does go off the rails, the worst thing the Flyers could do is start trading off young players for band aids. |
