It could be that you guys just overachieved last year.. how many people had career years? Who expected Talbot to pot over 20?

Schenn and Cooter are having a very rough fall from last year.

But it's only been 3 games... it'll probably hit level again.

I think 2 angles I'd explore are Coots for Subban (assuming LTC was worked out beforehand) and something along the lines of Jake + Read for Bobby Ryan. I think this helps on a lot of fronts. Ryan is the sniper Giroux could use and provides physical play and leadership. Subban is the potential #1 guy on D that can shoot and move the puck.

Schenn-Briere-Simmonds
Fedo-Laughton-Wellwood
Sestito-Talbot-Rinaldo

Subban-Coby
Kimmo-Grossmann
Mez-Schenn


I think we'd still be deep enough at forward and it opens up a spot to bring up another energy player like Sestito full time. JMO

Make a move on D if it's there and doesn't cost the moon.
Hope you get Ryan as a free agent one day. It just doesnt make sense to trade for him.
Gun for Perry and re-shape the D in the offseason.

The only way to not mortgage any part of the future is to draft a player. Which takes development time.
