Considering that other teams are giving up 5+ goals all over the league, I'd have to say ours has been pretty good. Once they get more comfortable, I think they'll be even better. - HonkFortheGoose
I don't think they have played that bad as a whole. The only one consistantly making bad plays & decisions has been Myers. Everyone else have been decent with Sulzer being the best one on the ice so far.
Myers will come along. We should get used to him being a slow starter. |

he has played with the flames before and he could be a plug in player for the season for them. We would have to overpay to pry Giordano out of Calgary
I wonder if they were showcasing Leopold last night - homiedclown
I don't see Calgary trading him till the deadline though
And at that point, they're likely out of the running & not looking for a rental
And I do think a prospect like Catanacci + Brennan is overpaying
Giordano is solid, not great |

here's my take
lindy has been sheltering grigorenko's minutes. we need to give him more minutes so he stops playing soo timidly. he has not been a defensive liablility but he has not been playing with confidence. i dont see the benefit of sending him back down to the Q where he's dominating the weaker competition. its not like we have been putting him in a checking line role. he has had to play with matt ellis because of all the pk and pp situations.
toronto is a great skating team that seems to be selling out defensively this season and he didnt look bad vs philly.
honestly im more worried about our defense. something is off about them and i cannot put my finger on it. its not specifically 1 guy more than another. they just look off. - joshs
Yeah Lindy is using him in a checking line role right now. Centering Ott and Hecht is a checking line role. Theres virtually no offense on that line except for Grigo, and occasionally Ott if hes playing with 2 offensive players.
You put Leino on that line with Grigo and Ott, it becomes a third scoring line.
Realistically, I think Lindy should swap 25 and 82 until Leino comes back. Get Grigo on the wing, with less defensive responsibility and flanked by the speed and talent of Ennis and Stafford.
Foligno, Ott and Hecht would be a great checking line. |

Peter Holland has been a healthy scratch for both of the Ducks games
Why did they bring him up if they were not going to use him? |

Hecht is a second or third line center or he can play the wing.He played pretty well the last 2 games after being off as long as hes been.Miller played lights out like he typically does against Toronto.Everyone needs to leave the young Russian alone and just let him play.I like him fine on the third line with no pressure for the full season. All and all I thought the game was a bit boring and sloppy last night.I guess thats what you get after playing Philly on primetime. |

Is it a situation like we have with Brennan where he'd have to clear waivers?
Btw, we need to play Brennan... Let's see what he can do?! |

yeah i hope its just rust. your right they havent gave up a breakaway or been beaten horribly on a play. every goal that we have given up this year (even the dissallowed goals) all have been fault less goals. we have only given up 3 goals and we have won every game. i guess im just overreating to all the zone play against. - joshs
Yea Lindy's system is to keep the other team along the boards and not let them attack Miller from the front of the net, sometimes teams will hold it in our zone for a minute or so but not get any real good scoring chances. |

No offense but Grigs is not here to play wing. He is a center. If anything you take Foligno or Stafford and put them 9-25-21/82. |

Holland was picked a few spots after Kassian so I do not think that is the case |

I like how Hecht has looked too...
But if this team is going anywhere it's with him on the 4th line as a role player,
3rd line to sub in for injuries if necessary

Ennis needs to step up, that line has generated nothing offensively, Staff has been ok but 63 and 82 have been invisible |

Notice I said "until Leino gets back". Its not going to hurt his game at all playing with more offensively talented players on a wing. Ennis has thrived at center after playing his entire rookie year at wing. Hes better at center. Also, most rookie prospects at center start out at wing. Its not uncommon at all.

Good statement. Guys on GR this morning brought up a good point though. Drew Doughty is from Myers draft class has won the cup. When you see Doughty do you think "oh this guy might need a few months to get it together". Or do you think he is going to slip up all night? No way. And Erik Carlson is a Norris Trophy winner and an all-star. Myers needs to get his poop together. |

Dont like Hecht on the fourth line with the muckers hes one concussion away from eating baby food.Id rather see him in a checking role on the third line and a backup for injuries on the second. I agree with your point tho on the top 2 lines |

Yea, I personally don't think it would hurt if our 2nd line keeps struggling, I had a feeling Foligno would struggle to start the year. 25 should stay period IMO, I don't want to see 55 move up the lineup because of injuries |

Luke Schenn??? drafted before all of them where is he? Myers probably if you looked at the draft class figued he would take the longest to develope because of his size, absolutely nobody thought he would be that good as a rookie |
