yess..they rolled the dice and are paying for it now - Flyers4Life88
The big problem with that idea is, that there's several vets who aren't playing anywhere near the level they are capable. Certainly, there are holes, but there's enough talent that they should be able to overcome that better than they have shown.

I have no answers for that.
I wonder if we dont win cups because we dont believe in systems?
Maybe thats why we lose men in the dzone.. - Flyersgod
How can a team or an Organization not believe in systems? The Flyers just don't go out there without a structure in place and a strategy. It's not always executed, but it's there. And every team has a system. |

There needs to be a culture change in philly before we are ablr to win a cup.
Every dynasty had a system with the perfect players for it.
Det?
Colorado?
Nj? - Flyersgod
Why don't they win the Cup every year then? We'll see how Detroit does without Lidstrom. |

Havent you heard? Systems are meaningless. Tell your coach. - Flyersgod
Our coach uses "systems" as more of a guideline......we are supposed to read and react. nothing is ever absolute. |

That's the way every system is. On a forecheck the rotation and coverage is different depending on D to D pass, a D rim pass, or a D Reversal. And based on a teams breakout. |

Fleury Crosby Malkin Letang Orpik Neal
Roy better than Fleury
Bourque was HARDLY "in his prime" so Letang night be better now..
I think that is a fair comparison - Ripped Fuel
You forgot Dupuis and Martin. Easy mistake to make so no hard feelings. |

For some reason I'm not getting Flyers games anymore, but looking at the highlights, what happened on the play that looked like Giroux scored on the breakaway? They showed it briefly in the highlights but didn't say what happened... |

Speaking of PP's and systems. Anyone ever play Playstation, and how you can choose the setup of your team? One of the choices is PP Overload. Watch the Flyers first PP unit. They set up in an Overload formation. That's how complicated Hockey systems are. |

whats all this bullpoop of no systems in hockey??? Of course theres a system...A system is designed to get 22 guys playing as one......Problem is before the flyers start executing Lavy's system, they have to learn to skate shoot pass and read plays better...
That said ive never been a fan of Lavy's system even when it is working...its exciting to watch but every player must be at a very high level in order to execute it properly... when guys are at the highest level and playing it it works like a charm....when a team is tired it fails and burns miserably.... point is its either really good or really bad.....
Its the kind of system that amplifies strengths in offense, but magnifies deficiencies on defense.... there is a reason hes on a short lease before this season even started...Point is its going to take a while to get the guys up to playing it, but at that point it might not matter. |

Yes, because puck movement, positioning, communication, amount of RH vs. LH shooters, ability/strength of the other team, and opposition tendencies have nothing to do with how a system works or why a coach chooses to employ a certain one. You just skate in straight lines until you get the puck, then get into your position in the zone, stand in place, and hope. It's that simple. |

LA had 4 20+ goal scorers on their team last year, and Carter was one of them. Kopitar led the team with 25 goals. - MJL
Yeah we were just arguing about what means proven and what not. The Flyers have plenty of scoring depth without bringing in more. I consider all those guys on LA proven scorers by my definition. |

Nobody has discounted any of that. But that is a different subject. That is advanced scouting and setting up a game plan against a particular team. That is where Coaching comes in. But that isn't a system. That is having the right players in the right spots within the system. A system is just a basic framework and strategy. Where to attack a team on the PK and looking for weaknesses on the opposition isn't a system. That's coaching and scouting. |
