if it looks to be a down year trade kimmo and briere....let these kids develop and play. so what if we are the worst in the league. - Philly1980
don't you get it, that is unacceptable. losing is unacceptable, all this talk about the skill and youth this team has well if they're not winning there's a problem, am i right? for this team to miss the playoffs would be a disgrace....just remember homer thought getting swept by boston in the 2nd round was unacceptable and what did he do? so what if its an off year? I can't believe one would say that. this team should be cup contender year in and year out |

Its been 3 games. Alright, 3 very bad games.. As mad as I am about the way this year started, to even suggest the idea of tanking or trading is stupid. Look ahead to this weekend, and even take a peek at our February schedule and things dont seem as bad... Let the season play itself out and re-evaluated in March |

Yes, then first round loss followed by drafting another center with first round pick. - FlyerLifer
No, followed by a big move, if history repeats itself, weber is trade eligible after this season. |

how are you going to be a cup contender when you have no youth or assets to trade from the farm anymore? our defense is falling apart...what happens next year when kimmo moves on? if your going to (frank) up to stock the cupboards id rather do it this year...not an 82 game season... |

We talked about last year being a "retooling" year but were surprised by how well and how much of a load the young/new guys contributed. Many of these guys have produced yet and their level of play has dipped. If this had been last year and Coots played like this, many would be clammering for him to be sent back to jrs. We may very well experience growing pains that we didn't expect. I want Homer to be patient and let things unfold. If its a down year, so be it but I think it will make the young guys better and stronger in the long run, IMO

I agree. Nothing is going right for them now. Most of it their own doing. They are squeezing the stick and hesitating on offensive chances. Struggling in all areas. One good start and maybe a fortunate bounce can turn it all around. This is when someone has to step up. To stop this from snowballing into more then just a slow start to the Season. - MJL
In the second there was a lot of hesitation taking shots. They had chances to get the puck at the net and waited allowing players to get in the way. When you aren't winning you just need to get pucks to the net and they weren't doing it. I think when you get a few shots blocked you start looking for holes instead of just doing what you should. |

NYR have a game tonight....Might not have their best performance tomorrow...Lets hope so - Philly1980
I watched Anisimov play for Columbus a few days ago. He is an underrated player and I think the Rangers will miss him this year, and he always played well against the Flyers.
Flyers better not get swept by them this year, that would be painful. |

They'll be hurting from the loss of Prust and Dubinsky as well. They gained Nash but lost a lot of grit. Plus, I'd be shocked if all their defenseman played at the same level they did last year. |

is this not an ideal scenario:

Tank...
Draft Jones, Pickup Perry, Pickup Bob Ryab(2yrs) year three go for it all
you dont loose any of the kids. |

Would rather take one of Perry and Ryan and add depth somewhere else in that scenario. |

you're not going to be a cup contender scoring 3 goals in 3 games, 2 by G...you expect him to carry the load. the additions on defense are actually embarrassing...Foster, Gervais...homer just trying to stop the bleeding... flyers right now are the laughing stock of the league, strike out on the big UFAs, lose our 2 biggest UFA as a result...who do you blame? i blame homer, u keep jags for 3 mil and u give carle 5.whatever. hes been a key part on the back end, apart of so many memorable moments. game 82 against NYR, game 5 set up gagne OT winner against boston, set up game 3 ot winnner against chicago |

we don't discount systems. I know what systems are, their role in the game. And I know why teams win and lose.
There's one thing about systems. There isn't any revolutionary system. Peter Laviolette didn't design or invent any of the systems he uses. Niether has any other Coach. They are strategies that have been around for decades. - MJL
You are so completely wrong and you know it.
Same systems for decades? |

what Homer needs to understand is you're not gonna get a good deal for him. but you can get him and does a franchise number 1 D man mean more than a POTENTIAL next jordan staal (couts) |

That's the way every system is. On a forecheck the rotation and coverage is different depending on D to D pass, a D rim pass, or a D Reversal. And based on a teams breakout. - MJL
Whats the highest level of hockey you played? |

All those guys were solid role players and part of that team's identity.
They are still a great team.
Interesting to see how they stack up against Boston again tonight.
If Boston wins big it might get in their heads a little bit. |

yeah Homer F'd up...its a joke, then he goes and locks up simmonds hartsy and jakub for all this money....idk man, i feel keeping that type line on O and D! intact was important, really makes the flyers look like poop, they were drooling over parise and suter so much the thought of "what if we dont get them" never crossed homers mind and i dont blame either jags or matty for signing somewhere else, they prob felt unwanted and were like wow Homer hasnt even made an offer yet wtf |

Except Jagr is getting 4.5M and no one here would have given Matt Carle a 5.5M cap hit for 6 years he got in Tampa.
Homer went for Weber and Suter, it didn't work.
I liked both players but they couldn't afford Carle and it was time to move on from Jagr. |
