Look into acquiring Subban, I love Couturier but Subban is a potential rock on defence and we need a rock who can play both ends on D for 25 plus mins a game.

Defensively, but didn't Briere and G do well when playing together last year? Could be my imagination.

I'm not sure that offer sheets are legal during the NHL Season.

They are. Just because the season starts doesn't mean you can't offer him a contract. He's a free agent. It doesn't happen often because most of these things are resolved and if you didn't tender an offer in the summer you aren't likely to once the season starts. Logically, it wouldn't make any sense to be a free agent if you could only sign with the team that had your rights when your contract ran out.

The only thing I'm not sure about is the deadline for this season. I'm sure there's one but it's usually December 1st and that wouldn't apply this year.

Edit: The last RFA to sign an offer sheet after the season started was Federov. I know they set the deadline in the 2004 lockout. I don't know what it is in this one or for this year.

Good call. He did leave his feet, and that's that. What bothers me is, A) that a hit of that nature happens once a game but it won't be called that way..and B) that injury or lack thereof is a criterion for suspension.
