Not surprised at Schenn suspension. He clearly left his feet. Not really anything to get upset about.
- Jsaquella

The whole leave your feet thing is crap to me. It should be about head contact.
(not that he didn't make head contact at some level.)

Good call. He did leave his feet, and that's that. What bothers me is, A) that a hit of that nature happens once a game but it won't be called that way..and B) that injury or lack thereof is a criterion for suspension.
- GirouxForTheShow

I hope that every hit following receives the same attention. Schenn left his feet, and every time it happens here on out, there better be a game.

It's an established precedent, at least. So long as the next guy gets dinged similarly, I'm fine with it...and he did make head contact

If the sender reads it before the recipient does, it becomes "read" for the recipient, too. Just a fun quirk here at HB.

I did not know this, and it makes sense.

I read it Bullies, because I was worried you wouldn't find the humour in the last line like i did.

And Steve Downie done for the season, tore his ACL

Ouch. Colorado is such an inexplicably bad franchise now. I guess if I followed them daily I could explain it. Cap kicked their butts hardest I guess.

Precisely. Regardless of injury, if its a bad hit its a bad hit, it shouldn't matter if the guy has an egg on his head or he is dead. The only thing that should matter are previous offenses and the action itself.

I think if he didn't make contact with the head, Schenn wouldn't have been suspended.

An injury is a factor in how long a player is suspended for.

Yeah, I heard about that! The league and the state giving them a leg up to bork us. Even big companies were buying in, for little more than logos on the boards (and any other surface big enough to put a logo on)! Who does business like this? #illuminati

Of course I didn't 'find the humor'. Don't you understand!? According to my calculations, not only have we completely lost this season, but we've tanked next season too!

Randy Jones hit Patrice Bergeron from behind and it practically ruined his entire season. Now he should be suspended more than when Laraque threw Downie into the boards from behind, and Downie came out the next period and fought him? Because Downie wasn't injured? BS. If the aggressiveness of the action caused the injury, then fine but the injury itself should not have any affect on the suspension.

I feel it should be a factor, but the NHL gives it too much weight. It's as much logic as to appease people who say a guy who lays a suspendable hit should get as many games as his victim is out with injury.

Factor yes, but those stupid videos when Shanny says, there's was no injury on the play, that shouldn't matter. Shouldn't be mentioned. It's given way too much weight in my opinion.

It has to have an effect. I'm trying to word this right, but any punitive or illegal act made, the result of those actions is part of the punishment. Not to compare real life crime to Hockey. But if you shoot someone, and that victim does not die. The punishment is less then if the victim does die. There's a reason for that. The more damage done to the "victim", the worse the punishment should be. It's only logical.

Half the time it's the impact of the hit that causes the skates to leave the ice rather than a jump. They need to focus on head contact.
