Half the time it's the impact of the hit that causes the skates to leave the ice rather than a jump. They need to focus on head contact. - mayorofangrytown
agreed. and IIRC my old physics classes, don't you actually reduce the velocity of force by leaving your feet? if that's true and the hit does not touch the head, the whole concept is BS. |

Serious question: If Hartnell is out an extended amount of time (1+ months) what are your expectations for this team?
Idk what to think... Just when u thought things couldn't get any worse, your 2nd best player goes down...

Shelley could dress, maybe see Harry Z get recalled. - Jsaquella
I'm hoping for Harry Z, but is there any chance of Briere being able to go tomorrow? |

He's been saying not until the weekend. No reason to rush if there's possibility to make it worse. |

So Neal gets nothing for his hit on Couturier, but Schenn gets a game??
Look. I'm not going to sit here and argue for or against a suspension.
All I want is some consistency....
EDIT: No Hartnell for a long time. See we're not buckin any trends here.... |

Hartnell must have broke something, damn.
Good thing they have lots of depth on their AHL team.

They'd have to make a deal to address his absence. You'd hope they could get a vet on the last year of a deal for a pick, but the other team will smell the desperation, so not likely. |

I'm just hoping we don't get embarrassed tomorrow... Yes those are my expectations now.
Keep it within 2-3 goals boys... Don't nobody get injured |

As soon as you so him get hit, why would you think anything other than a fracture?
That's the way this team rolls. |

Is Mike Knuble an FA? If so I would definitely give him a shot |

Actually, not the worst idea. He's on a PTO with Grand Rapids, but they'd need to dump a contract to land him. |

We already have a slow ass 22 on this team. Anyone who takes 22 is slow as molasses. Knuble-Leino-now concrete feet Schenn |

I'm loving all the people saying we should make offers for Benn and Subban... Let's trade 3 1sts or great depth players for players that haven't played in 7 months!
Knuble available? Or did he sign with Grand Rapids?
Dare I say Gomez as a 3rd line center wouldn't look too bad right now? |

Yes, exactly. If you run and jump at a wall the impact is less than if you ran straight into it because the momentum of the moving object (you) is distributed in two directions instead of one. The kinetic energy is applied upward and forward instead of just forward. |

Yeah but If Hartnell is out for a long period of time I don't think it would be such a bad pickup, he would certainly bring some leadership and maybe even help the PP |

Flyers defense can't hit the net, but zero trouble hitting Hartnell's foot.
You would think the net would be an easier target since it's bigger. |

Here is the Holmgren statement.
Flyers GM Paul Holmgren gave an injury update on Flyers forward Scott Hartnell:
"Scott will be out indefinitely with a left foot injury. We will know more on this within a day or two as we await results of tests."
If they don't have the results of the tests, how can Holmgren proclaim Hartnell out indefinitely. Doesn't seem to jive. |
