Down 4-2 to the dregs of the NHL ... lousy effort; lousy defense; lousy discipline. No excuse for this.

By the sounds of it I may be the only one but I think Toronto has played a pretty good game, especially Reimer. Doesn't change the fact the Pens have been sloppy all over the ice but the Leafs have capitalized.

If we didn't take so many penalties they might be up by more than 2.

I'm never surprised when they have difficulty with the leafs. That being said, the Pens first two wins were against teams that looked like they were still waiting for the CBA to be signed.

Well Bennet is being featured in the AHL allstar game. 25 needs to go away....freaking useless. Flower???????????? Umm is it too late to think our backup is better than the starter?

Awwww eff it. This team has massive holes. But its just one game.

Perhaps we decline all home games. Geno's best pass went to JVR.... Nice!

MAF was not the issue tonight. He didn't have any help.

Well a couple things.
1. Fleury performed admirably. The turn overs and puck management hung him out to dry.
2. Kulemin would be great playing with Malkin and Neal. He played with Malkin in Russia and they lit it up. I've been saying this for a bit and I stand by it.
3. With this schedule there is not time to think. They'll have to come back Friday in Winnipeg and get back to playing smart. Toronto has been an issue for them in the past. Shake it off.

I wish people would quit using this chemistry of Malkin and Kulemin and the success they had in the KHL as a reason to acquire him. The KHL ISN'T the NHL. Kulemin is a solid player, but just because they had success together in that league that doesn't know what defense is, doesn't mean the success would be here automatically.

As far as Winnipeg ... I supposed a 9-7 type game is in store, just like the ones last year.

Yeah MAF wasn't the problem. The team was a mess in front of him. Leafs have some speed and the Pens didn't handle that well. This loss goes deeper than a Tangradi problem. Need to regroup and get back to better team D.......we saw glimpses of it in the previous two.

Okay, keep Tangradi with him then. I'll keep saying Kulemin would be a great addition meanwhile Tangradi is an instant subtraction. He basically got benched tonight. But sure, lets suit him up and then not use him. I'm throwing out a name because plenty point at Tangradi but not many give someone that could replace him from the outside. I prefer Bennett play but he's more of a match for Crosby.

I would acquire Kulemin if it meant Tangradi was shipped off in a package for him - just to get rid of him. But stop it with the chemistry bullpoop. The NHL and KHL are two totally different league and the styles of play are totally different here as well. If they had chemistry together in the NHL, its one thing, but in the KHL?

It's not like successful organizations haven't made deals of any kind because of play in the KHL. The Red Wings did that very thing because of how well Brunner played with Zetterberg. The fact is almost anyone with decent speed and passing ability could play better than Tangradi. Kulemin fits that. He's clearly not the only player who does. I'm just saying, he's a guy thats familiar. The Olympics aren't the NHL either yet people always say Iginla would do well with Crosby. If you can play, you can play. Tangradi hasn't. That's the point.

Per James Mirtle
@mirtle: Kulemin and Malkin are chatting in the hallway here outside the Pens room.

When? I taped it. I'd love to see when he was a difference maker. I do know one showed up in his glove.

Flower, for a #1 pick needs to be spectacular sometimes and to me he is ordinary.

Just got back from the game... rather poor effort. Way too cute in the first period; should've had 3 at least by then.

JVR with a monster game of course.

I'm sure he tipped his helmet to Malkin after the game for his near seamless assist.

I was at that game too! Last one I was at before tonight's... talk about crazy.

That was the beginning of the end for the team defense...
