well they're pretty much right to be fair - toskala4vezina
If that's what you believe then you really don't know much about those teams either(yankees aside -most of the time - they did commit the biggest failure in playoffs - blowing a 3 game lead to Sox to end their curse). |

Im not forgetting anything..........my point was if you want someone you gotta pay for him. Why is it ok to overspend here, but not there. PK Subban is the real deal.........whether you wanna admit it or not. He's worth going after...
Like I said many times..........Subban comes here and like it or not, is our best dman. - kindlyrick

I'm curious as to why NO ONE in the league offer-sheeted Subban. Seems to me that if he were worth the trouble, someone would have done it. I know I've heard people say that he's a major league richard, so perhaps front offices don't want to touch him? - keaner17
no one since Edmonton has tried...and for good reason.
No guarantee he signs it, which if he didn't, would make us look (more) foolish.

Anythings possible, but its my understanding that offer sheeting a player is frowned upon. Clearly garth is a new GM and doesnt wanna piss anyone off. On paper offer sheeting subban is the right move . - kindlyrick
I saw on the Internet that Ryan O'Reilly was coming back to the US to possibly sign an offer sheet. Didn't say the team...Also he is looking for $5 Million a year... |

Please go compare Subbans stats to Hamonic. Other than points differential, Travis is bigger, stronger, hits more, had half his nose dangling-off-his-face and doesn't create a stir while still a young/dumb/fullacom ROOK.
I don't get your man-crush on PK. Malcolm, his brother was supposed to be greatest goalie in WJC and stunk it up came home medal-less on a team EVERYONE picked to take gold. PK isn't worth ANYWHERE NEAR what you're willing to offer AND HE WONT PLAY ON LI COS HE'S A PUNK FOR HOLDING OUT AS A 3RD YEAR PLAYER. He is not Suter, Pronger, Chara, or Stevens AND NEVER WILL BE. Give it a friggin rest already.

290 pts in 346 games with the Isles with absolutely no help. I mean come on - he looks around and see's Aaron Asham, Oleg Kvasha, than Jason Blake. Yashin's deal would have worked out fine if management would have gotten someone to play with him.
Could you imagine going out for the opening faceoff with Asham and Kvasha on your wings?? Jesus tap dancing christ... - Mr.Black

I don't understand what you're referring to when you say "okay to spend here but not there"?
An RFA doesn't have every team bidding for him and hasn't put his time in to get to that status. Hence, lower contracts unless the team wants to lock him up long term. Typically you see a player take a longer term contract through some of his ufa years to get a higher salary now and both the team and player get some long term stability. Montreal isn't wanting the long term deal and wants him to earn the higher salary. Subban wants both longer term and more money.
I don't see him coming to the Isles unless it's a trade and the Isles sign him after that. An offer sheet is pointless as even Nashville matched that abortion of an offersheet from philly for weber and the most we can offer is 5 mil.
As far as our best defenseman immediately if he joined the team, while he'd definitely be top two, I'm not sure. Here's an interesting question for you to answer, straight up, do you trade Hamonic for Subban?
I don't. I'll take the team first kid that plays hard without causing a scene, puts up a decent amount of points without getting first line power play time, hits and fights without trying to make himself look bigger than the team. I believe Hamonic gets close to Subban's totals if he gets the same opportunities and is more solid in his own end, and also less of a spectacle.
thoughts?

MAB had a heck of a shot but thats it. He was a liability out there. You cant just have one dimensional players. PK Subban has a bit of everything. Id love to have a guy like Hamonic on our team.......with a little more offensive upside. - kindlyrick

I'm a little alarmed by how far back our defense is going when the Leafs cross the line. Pretty sure we don't want them both in the crease when the leafs are at the faceoff dots. Little more aggressive please. |
