Orr fought a long tough fight last night... not sure he will be willing to go again tonight.
Great fight by the way... worth watching, unless you're one of those Penguins fans that doesn't like violence... - jimmc7722
I did see the fight. Good one.
I think Orr is flying high to be back in the NHL.
Plus after dropping John Scott to his knees the other night.
He'll be itching to go with Carkner. |

My two cents :
Why give up a first rounder who's ready to make the jump to the NHL, and a Dman who logs big minutes and has chemistry with Hamonic.......and is paid the lleague minimum????
Why not just offer sheet Subban, and give up the first and third rounder who wont make the NHL for 3 years anyway. Its not like if you trade for Subban he comes with a contract. You still gotta sign him. Doesnt make any sense to give up actual prospects for him. WAYYYYY better off with an offer sheet. |

I agree... Id rather just offer sheet him and give up the draft picks...
MacDonald is a solid D-man that just keeps getting better and better. Plus he plays with Hamonic and thats a damn good D-pairing imo. |

Problem with that is if you don't blow the doors off and overpay, Montreal will match. If Subban still throws a fit, Montreal still has control and will trade him when they find right offer. |

and it's funny people keep suggesting offer sheets when there's only ever been one team that didn't match for one player - Dustin Penner.
The only GM that wouldn't match an offer sheet would be Burke, because he's a stubborn bastard who would view that as losing.

If he really wants out of Montreal and that's why he's making contract agreements so difficult |

Just because it hasnt happened a lot doesnt mean it cant happen. If the Habs wanted to pay him more money, at this point they would have offered. Obviously they dont want to............whether they match an offer sheet of 5 million for 6 years remains to be seen. But to me, why offer up Nino, and AMAC when you can potentially only give up two players to be determined, who wont be relevant for at least 3 years. |

So the Isles should offer him a contract that they are willing to pay him (or slightly higher so MTL wont match) and then if MTL does match the offer, then work a trade for him... This way he is already signed to what the Isles are willing to sign him for and the Isles have the security knowing he is locked up for however many years already. But hopefully, MTL doesnt match. |

I like what I've seen from Subban thus far in his career and think he'll be a very dependable dman throughout, but I have to say I'm a bit baffled by how far 'over the moon' some are for him. The guy has TWO years of NHL hockey under his belt.
While I certainly have to problem with the idea of trying to acquire him, I'm not that big on trading a top end prospect like Nino WITH a solid dman like AMac for him. |

I think the thing with Subban is he encompasses all the qualitites you want in a dman......and he hasnt even reached his potential. Whens the last time the isles had a threat from the point? |

We definitely need a shot from the point but I'm just not ready to say Subban is an elite dman yet. You're right that he has many of the qualities that you want. He's very strong and compact, good skating ability and a decent shot. I'm not really sure what his potential is at this point. I'm certainly not ready to deal a top end prospect like Nino for him though. |

I think Montreal would get killed by its fans for that trade. Most fans there would see it as trading one of their cornerstone pieces for a player who had one goal last year and some defenseman they never heard of. |
