290 pts in 346 games with the Isles with absolutely no help. I mean come on - he looks around and see's Aaron Asham, Oleg Kvasha, than Jason Blake. Yashin's deal would have worked out fine if management would have gotten someone to play with him.

Could you imagine going out for the opening faceoff with Asham and Kvasha on your wings?? Jesus tap dancing christ...

At the risk of opening the Yashin debate, the NHL game passed him by. The moment The game became more wide open and about all three zones, Yashin's value and effectiveness diminished. The league became more predicated on speed, which Yashin had none.

He's part of the Montreal hype machine. His personality and team get him more attention than anything. Like I say, he's plenty good but not good enough for me to want to start pulling a Milbury on our prospect pool.

Subban is a premiere defenseman and there isn't a team in the NHL who wouldn't take him... except for maybe Nashville, those "people" aren't to friendly down there.

I agree on Yashin and he was good if not a great Islander while he was still playing..

In the few years Yash was an Islander weren't in the playoffs yearly? Only if they had gotten some players with more skill then the Ashams and kvashas of the world Isles and Yashin would have won a few playoff rounds..

Isles have a super star and they hand him a moulson @ Okposo to play along him.. Wake the freak up and get some real talent to play along Tavares..

I sometimes feel bad for Tavares and being stuck with the Isles. Imagine If JT had a Nash or Gaborik on his line he would pot over 100 assists per season with one of those players getting over 60 goals yearly..

I dunno..........i mean last years stats, have him right in the middle of guys all making anywhere from 4.5 million to 6.5 million. Is 5 million for this kid that much?? I dont think so.

I also never agreed with trading for him. My original point was offer sheet him, cause you're giving up picks not actual prospects. Those picks wont come to fruition for 3 plus years. Its a do if you ask me...

There's a difference between "a team wanting him" and a team being willing to deal one of the top prospects for him. I don't doubt the kid is damn good, but I think he's also overrated. I see no need to trade valuable assets for a dman this year.

I'm listening to the Toronto Sports station...Bryan Hayes the host said "the Leafs should beat a bad Islanders team tonight". I love Toronto's arrogance...like they have been Stanley Cup contenders the last 10 years...

And if we weren't likely to finish low in the standings, I'd probably be fine with an offer sheet. Of course I still don't think he'd come here. I also don't see the Isles offer sheeting anyone. Not because of the money, but more because I'm willing to bet Charles doesn't like the ethics behind it.

Not to open the can about years past, but the isles made the playoffs cause of guys like Michael peca and MIke Sillinger. WIth a min to go in a game down by a goal.........the isles had peca out there, not yashin.

Assuming the pick is gonna be low is a bad way to handle this. We're 2 games into the season and already we're talking about not wanting to give up the pick cause it "could be" a low pick??? EIther way, Nino is a year from making this team, and AMAC has chemistry with Hamonic........both of whom are very cabable of logging 20 min a night (AMAC logs 20 min a night making the league min).

Give up the two picks for christs sake...........Offer sheet SUbban. If the Habs were gonna pay him 5 million a year they woulda offered him that. The season has started..........they wouldnt have let it go this long.

Everyone who is assumiong this kid wont accept that offer to play with his boy Tavares............i have 30 million reasons why he would.

I really hope they win 10-2 but i cant see it.. Leafs won a huge game last night on the road and vs a good turtles team.. They will be high on momentum and bring it vs the isles.. Should be a close high scoring game. All depending on how nabby plays in net And if Tavares scores a few..

Disagree...the reason is Burke had a unlimited budget when he was a GM for the Leafs and he didn't do anything. The Islanders owner has been a tight wad ever since Snow was the GM...even though I'm not a fan of Snow, he hasn't been operating on an even playing field like the bigger teams...hopefully this changes when the Islanders move to Brooklyn.

The leafs have a letdown after every huge win.......not to mention they lost Lupol last night. Sorry but i dont see them hanging with the isles tonight. JT loves to dangle in the ACC

Leafs with one of the highest payrolls have sucked, themselves, for the past decade. Top five drafting most of those years. gm just got fired. Oh, yeah, they're SOOOOOOOOO much better than us.

They'll be hungover for tonights' game and we should thank the ignorant & arrogant Toronto broadcasters for filling them with a false sense of security. Lupul also out.

That's kinda what I'm afraid of.

Hey, if the Islanders are looking to save some money, wouldn't it make sense to trade for Komisarek now, and not have to pay for an airline ticket to join the team?

Should be a good game.

See I agree with you slightly when you say Wang has been a tight wad.

A few years ago he offered to pay for the whole lighthouse project (1billion or something like that) out of his own pocket.

Wang also tried to resign Ryan Smyth and actually offered him more money then what he signed for in Colorado. This same case happened 2 more times when he made offeres to Paul Martin (signed in Pitt) and Volchenkov (signed in NJ). So he has tried to pay players to come here... thats the problem and hopefully Brooklyn and the Barclays Center will change that.

He is a little cheap sometimes but if he doesnt think the player is worth what they are asking, he simple doesnt give in to them... (Bergenheim a few years ago and Parenteau last yr)

Are you really getting your dander up because a radio guy is a homer?

I'm not familiar with the New York Area radio scene - are all the talk show guys completely objective?

We suck but so do the leafs makes no sense to say they are better than us. IN fact I would take our team over their team anyday. (That says a lot)
