Same with Tuesday's game. Bunch of speedster the Devils got back there on the blueline. Fayne, Salvador, Tallinder, Volchenkov. They all can fly! - MJL
Maybe its their system that makes them look quicker? |

Wasn't very hard to see that Pronger and Timonen were older, and Carle was, impending UFA. And that the Flyers didn't have a good stable of young defense prospects. Did you also predict the career ending injury to Pronger? Because this defense looks a whole lot different with Pronger in the lineup. - MJL
Actually.. did have?s about prongers future. I was shot down on the boards and told it was premature. Give it up., |

There was no way to predict that he'd have a career ending concussion. There was no logical reason to believe that would happen, just like every other concussion. I can understand having doubts about his knees and what have you but, even so, he probably could have played 2-3 more years at a high level. |

In the aftermath of the Carter./Richards trade and drafting couts I wanted to trade assets for a young top 3 potential dman. We had more assets In tow and were in a better position from a leverage standpoint. I stand by that. |

Even after those 2-3 years, having a leader like him playing, even in a somewhat lesser capacity, would be huge for this team. The fact is, a defensive talent of Pronger's caliber is mighty rare in the NHL. |

Flavor of the week. People were PUMPED to see JVR outta here. If he has a few more game like he had last night they will be flipping out saying what a terrible trade blah blah blah..
I may be a JvR apologist, but I honestly didnt like the move from the beginning. Im still gonna wait to see how Schenn rounds out, and I hold on hope that he becomes a true top shutdown guy.. but watching JvR last night tear up the Pens made me wish he was still in O&B. - jak521
I liked the addition of Schenn but disliked that it came at the cost of JVR. JVR is still the guy that is invisible for several games then has a dominate game but I still believe he is going to be a really nice player. I hate losing that mix of size and speed. |

Would love to see Couts shut down the Rangers first line.
And the D need to know when Gaborik and Hagelin are on the ice to be very careful with pinching, they will be looking for breakaways.
Despite last yr and the injuries this game is very winnable.
Boston played the Rangers very tough last night. |

In the long run we'll look back on that deal with extreme regret. I hated it when they made it and I'll continue to hate it. |

But Nostradamus was right!
The young lion (Mikhail Grabovski) overcame the older one (Pronger) on the field of combat (Wells Fargo Center) in a single battle (game against the Leafs). He pierced his eyes (hit in eye with a stick) through a golden cage (helmet). Two wounds made one (broken bone in eye + concussion) and then he dies a cruel death (will never play hockey again).

You can't trade a promising young forward for a defensive prospect that can't get off the bench on a horrible team. If they had traded JVR for Subban I could live with it. |

The Rags looked more beatable in the first 3 games of this season than they did at any point last year. |

The way I looked at it, I struggle to trade a player who has the potential to be a dominant forward, for a d-man who has the potential to be a shut down physical d-man. There are two many d-men of the same ilk that hit free agency..
If it were a Subban or Pietrangelo (package) I would have no gripes. |

Their first line is really good.
Their team D and goalie are not bad either
I could see this being a blow out, but also see a chance for the Flyers.
This has to be a let down game for the Rags after beating Boston in OT for their 1st win. |
