Unfortunately I feel the same way.. Almost as if a loss is unavoidable. We suck against the Rags, we have sucked so far this season, and now we are without 2 top 6 forwards.. - jak521
A loss would be okay if I see certain things. No shame in losing to a better team if you're shorthanded and out manned due to injury. If you fight and compete, and play hard. That's what I'm looking for tonight. To see how they respond. To see who elevates their game and steps up. I think the biggest thing they need to avoid is getting down early. They seem to deflate when that happens.

Does lava ever entertain the thought of putting a dman like gervais on the 4th line? I know we havent had a healthy crop of dmen in awhile. But how can they scratch gervais or foster in favor of some of these guys? - Just5
The other guys are on the team and have been called up for a reason. They're better choices then to play a defenseman at Forward,

I'd like to see more attempting to get a scoring chance instead of clearing the puck on a 5-3 PK, less movement on the PP and more undisciplined penalties.
Also, trade our young players because their value will never be higher.
seriously, if they drop a stinker tonight, the boos will rain down. Bryz seems to be the only player that's showed up so far this year.. - Hextall271
I totally agree.. There hasnt been a single goal this year where I sat there and said.. "Dammit Bryz!" Hell, Ive said "Dammit G" about 25 times..
On a serious note.. I want to see them shoot as often as possible. Give it to the point and let them hammer it! Crash the net as much as possible. We are going to have some big bodies out there tonight.. make life miserable for King Henrik.. |

If the execution and effort is there for 60 minutes, a loss is not the end of the world. Hell if the execution and effort is there for 50 minutes a corner has been turned.
Some young guys are getting a big opportunity tonight, they need to go grab it. |

I'd like to see more drop passes at the blue line, puck handling through 3 defenders instead of getting it deep. And our dmen pinching in the play when the 4th line is out. - Just5
Bravo! This post is well done. |

I totally agree. I hate losing, but if they manage to come out and make it a dog fight.. and dont quit.. Ill take that as a win. The world doesnt end if they lose tonight. They dont miss the playoffs if they lose tonight. But if they do indeed lose, it just continues to make that hill they have to climb steeper.
As for getting behind early.. they seem to have a HUGE confidence issue... a "here we go again" attitude if you will. I think that has a ton to do with the overall amount of younger players, but you need to kick that thought NOW! |

Agreed. They need to keep things simple, not get fancy, and work their asses off.

Just out of curiousity, what would happen if he was impatient? |

The Flyers always go all out to try to win; and they don't wait through much of any struggle before making major changes. The lack of a Cup in 38 years is closer to being a product of impatience than of over-patience.
Closer, but still not accurate. It's really a reflection of the fact of just how damn hard -- and how lucky ANY team has to get -- to go all the way. The playoffs always come down to:
a) matchups. Every team has some other team that gives them matchup problems; it's a matter of either being lucky enough to avoid those particular teams in the playoffs or of squeaking out a few OT and/or comeback wins in a given series.
b) special teams and goaltending getting hot at the right time; and
c) sheer attrition. If the Flyers were even slightly healthier (especially Tim Kerr) they may well have won Game 7 in Edmonton in 1987 after scoring first. |

No Cup in 38 years isn't patient, it's simply not winning a Stanley Cup in 38 years.
I love that they're trying to win every year, rather than doing a Pens' style rebuild. |

I've seen it worse; much worse in fact. Flyers once went into playoffs with Michal Sykora, Chris McAllister, Andy Delmore as half of their regular starting defense, along with Desjardins (who was coming off a major injury and got off to the worst start of his career), Dan McGillis and Luke Richardson as their top 3. Still somehow managed to be a 100 point team.

Sometimes I feel like the Flyers try harder to build a team that is entertaining than a team that wins. I know it's all about winning for Snider...and he is winning. His team is very successful where it matters to him. |

Lavy: "Hey guys. I know we lost 4 in a row. We had some bad breaks. And it is early in the season. Keeping it positive, MJL saw certain things and we still have a chance to make the playoffs"
Team: "F'ing seriously?"
