Looks like Kreider will be scratched tonight
- airjan23

In all honesty, in this projected fight-filled game, you need to combat that with guys who can square up against the goons that the Flyers are going to dress tonight.

No Asham means guys like Rupp, Bickel and Newbury are going to have to dust up at least one or two times tonight.

Protection of the Rangers skill players is going to be at an all time high this evening.

A desperate and undermanned Flyers team=thuggery on ice.

Ferriero isnt horrible. Hell, Pyatt has 2 goals, thats 2 more than I thought he'd have in the first 3 games. Its that 2nd line that needs to get their crap together.
- aecliptic

The Rangers have 12 forwards on the roster. If Kreider is in chateau bow wow, then Bickel has to play upfront. And if Asham is hurt, we get Newbury. Torts said after last night's game that he wasn't comfortable rolling four lines, and that is with a healthy roster (excluding Asham). If he gets a couple of injuries to Top 9 guys, what is he going to do? Play with two lines?

I am a little surprised that the Rangers went into this season so exposed, from a depth perspective, at the forward position. It could be a clown show up front if they suffer a couple of injuries. I am not asking for them to go out and trade for a 40 goal scorer, but it would be nice if they added some depth guys that can play a little.
- Pete V

That remains to be seen; players like Miller, Thomas and one more Euro winger, down in the minors, are pretty skilled. I don't think they are as thin as you suggest. Tey definitely lost depth but gained more skill.

It's a trade off that had to be made in my opinion; players like Nash are not a dime a dozen.

you know what, I think Pyatt is pretty good, thank goodness we have him. He is the perfect 3rd liner.

All I am suggesting is that they could have hit the scrapheap for a couple more serviceable 3rd or 4th liners. Hell, they could have re-signed Fedotenko and/or even John Mitchell on one year deals for low cap hits. They just need depth. I am by no means suggesting that they shouldn't have made the Nash trade, which was basically just 2 for 1 deal at the NHL level.

Miller and Thomas might be very good NHLers, but there not ready now.

Outstanding play by first line. Not often you see Chara being left out of play. I thought the Ranger speed to the outside caused the Bruins nightmares all game.

After three games? Hit the lottery for Jones and sign Corey Perry in the off-season?

Figured.. trying to figure out why the flyers and rangers are almost the same price on a money line..

Rangers -108
Flyers -112

How the flyers are favored is beyond me

a lot of the Flyers young players are already playing with the big club though, that is why the system looks bad on the surface

when I look at the Flyers I see a lot of cap space put into the defensemen, lots of guys making money back there and I am not sure if any of them are worth what they are making.

They just have to tread water, keep themselves within striking distance, and hope that they get hot at the right time. With this sprint of a season, however, prolonged slumps are a very bad thing, so they need to start winning (as do the Rangers).
