Really? Was that necessary?

It seems that maybe someone is threatened by the fact that I do have a good understanding and that I get along with (most) everyone here.

You think I am ?

C'mon stop.

I enjoy the fact that you have a fairly good grasp of the game.

I knew I was right about the injury.

Your 1st mistake to ever believe anything ESPN says about hockey.

- BuffaloHardHat

well since we're pointing out mistakes, yours is believing Sylvester that Weber is in for Sekera tonight.

in all reality who gives a crap how much of an understanding people have of the game.. we are here to discuss the sabres and all things hockey. Just because someone doesn't understand the game as well as you doesn't make their thoughts or views any less important. It is an internet website, you don't need to be the smartest of the people on the internet.

I'll admit, I've never played. Part of that is because I'm a girl and it wasn't something girls did when I was a kid.

Doesn't mean I understand the logistics of the game any less. Do I need to know what it feels like to get plastered into the boards in order to understand how much it hurts? I'm pretty sure I don't need to experience it to know it hurts.

- HonkFortheGoose

What a fan who never played is missing is the hockey players mentality aspect. I guess its hard to explain, but just listening to people talk about hockey its clear who has played and who hasnt.

As an example. I watch a lot of college basketball. I watch some NBA. I consider myself a fan. I know the rules. I can tell a good player from a bad player. What I dont know, even though I watch and follow countless hours of basketball, is how this players should read plays and the mental aspect of whats the right decision.

Another example. Football. We all watch and love football. I can tell you that while I never played football, I dont know all the intricacies of what an offensive or defensive line is actually doing unless I watch someone else who understands it break it down. And I'm not talking about Rob Ray stuff at intermission.

Sylvester is not my source.

But no offense I think I will believe Kevin over you. I mean afterall he is employed by the Buffalo Sabres.

Further, I am not sure if this happening tonight. I would bet not because Lindy has come out and said there would be no changes to lineup.

That is a good point. It's not something I try to break down, because, as you said unless you've done it, you don't know what it's like.

I don't understand why Myers didn't actually try to do something when Gerbe got plastered into the boards. Maybe he's a wuss. Maybe he was trying not to draw a pentalty. That's the stuff that I don't understand. I also try not to claim that I do. I do, however, wish that he would have just punched that jerk in the face.

I think you make valid, some I agree with, some not so much.

For example a very good friend of mine who has never played a down of football in his life is now the head coach of a very successful HS football program.

I think it certainly helps to have played the game, any game, and the higher the level the better....but I dont think the fact that one may not have played it doesnt exclude them from really understanding it.

On the other and where I do agree with you I have another close friend who is in two football HOF's, HS and college and was drafted in the NFL....watching a game with him is great becuase he knows and explains what's really going on out there, which is different from what I see even though ive watched 1000's of games.
