Sure, but I am not sure you would get equal value. He is a flawed young Defenseman with a lot of long-term upside. It takes D a longtime to develop in this league. If you want a guy who will fight for his teammates, I don't think that is Myers, but he is still a good young player. He is getting paid more then he is worth right now, but Darcy said that when they signed him. I would also contend that when Myers is 25-30 he will be one of the best D men in the NHL. Are you willing to wait? - JPlatt915
Ok. You, and a few other people, are missing my point.
I DON'T WANT MYERS TO FIGHT. BUT HE NEEDS TO HELP OUT THE TEAMMATE WHO IS GETTING A$$RAPED IN THE CORNER BY FIVE GUYS.
You don't have to be a brawler to stick up for a teammate. Push, shove, facewash, tackle, whatever, but get in there. Its called pack mentality. The Bruins have it. And with the couple new guys we have (Ott, Scott, Foligno) along with the holdovers (Regehr, Kaleta, etc) we should have it, too.
I would expect every single player on this team to adhere to that way of thinking. Get involved. It doesn't mean throwing punches. It means finding you way into the scrum and getting involved. It's called not repeating the trend we saw last year: the gutless Sabres.
And, I'm sorry, but at 6'8", Myers has to be a bit more aggressive. Or, as I said earlier, he might as well be Mike Wilson.

I like your thinking..... maybe throw old school Kane in there too... We need Myers to be a bare knuckle brawler... leading scorer.. and a norris cup winner before we are pleased with him. Maybe he needs to look into jiu-jitsu too... never know when a guillotine choke could come in hand. |

Yea but Miller lost us the conference finals remember? He has sucked since the olympics and is overpaid. All I know is I have not seen any Miller trade proposals since last night |

right there is where your point goes from valid to ridiulous, and it's not just you. Just because he is not as physical as some people want does not mean he is not ever going to be a really good hockey player |

Were the Ottawa and NYI GM's plain stupid, or was the Boston GM plain brilliant?
It's all about what you demand in return. And no one said I was trading Myers for Yashin. - Powerslave
So if your so ready to give up on Myers who would you like in return? |

Does anyone watch Anger Management starring Miller's wife. Seems like an odd couple to me. Miller must be a little crazy. |

My only point, which you and a few others on here are blowing way out of proportion, is that he should have gotten his nose a bit dirty and helped out Ott.
Why is that so hard to understand? |

I keep asking to see the video of it... I agree that anyone should get involved at any point when your teammate is getting crushed... even Lydman and Tallinder would atleast line dance with someone... I even remember Lydman trying to throw punches with Lucic in the 2009 playoffs line brawl... |

If the kid can even get back to where he was as a rookie, and stay there, that's awesome. But he has gotten worse every year. |

I understand it and agree with you.
Even when his team mate that just came off of spinal surgery gets cranked into the boards once again in the same manner that led to Baby food having surgery Myers gives the offender a love tap with his stick on his leg.
I mean c'mon already. I've seen whimps but this guy takes the cake.
I mean if you are stanking the ice up with your play at least stick up for team mates when you are the one on the ice at the time and do something positive for Christs sake. Nobody says start throwing punches but at least act angry at what you just seen happen to your team mate. Something more then a mere love tap on the leg . He's a whimp!
The kid is fast becoming a joke! A very expensive joke! |
