What did I miss? Subban stuff I'm assuming. - NickTheKid87
Someone said Flyers contacted Montreal about a Subban trade.
Then the speculation was Montreal would ask for Couts back.
Kind of the same old same old. |

It's not like it was in the 2nd period of a 6-1 game either, it was a huge goal. Plus it came after the team had been jobbed by the refs. Let the kid celebrate. - canadianpenfan
No, that's dumb. Hockey is an not a game, fun is not allowed. Creativity is also forbidden. Also, all goals must be scored by standard wrist shot from directly in front of the net. |

Yeah, it was clear it was shoulder when he got up and kind of held his arm the way they do when it's a shoulder. I just wanted it to be an owie and not an actual injury. But this is the way of the Flyers. - bodiva88
They need to find the secret to the Rangers' aura of protection from last year. |

exactly...these youngsters need to realize that this is their team and shouldnt expect anyone to come and bail them out, it's time to man up hunker down and play the best they possibly can night in and night out |

ASF tweeted that Mezzy injured a muscle near the AC joint.
That is a shoulder separation and actually it's not terrible news if true. 3-4 weeks typically.
AC injuries much easier to come back from then dislocations or another labrum injury. - Marc D
Will keep fingers crossed. |

When are the Games? Or did that already happen during the lockout and I missed the news? |

What would you guess for an offer sheet that the Canadiens would not match for Subban?
6M/yr for 5 years? |

They'd match that and anything higher would be too much money for me to pay him. I have a hard time believing there'd be a contract offer sheet this soon out of the lockout. |

I think you'd have to go into the top 2 compensation brackets for them not to match. Doubt any team would take that risk though. It'll pretty much have to be a trade to acquire Subban the way I see it. |

It makes hockey sense for both teams. I just hope the Flyers arent willing to do it. On an unrelated note call me crazy but I like what Gervais has brought to our back end. |

He played well yesterday. Too soon to tell if he'll keep it up though. |

My thing is why not put one out there? Whats the worst that can happen Montreal matches, oh well and move one. Their GM seems pretty stern on the whole 2 yr deal and if they want the farm I say throw an offer sheet exact numbers you listed and see what happens. Montreal is actually pretty solid on D even without PK. I hear some people asking about money too, Flyers have yet to use Prongs LTIR so they have the space for that kind of offer sheet or similar. |

Just checked and the Flyers only have $106,561 in cap space so an offer sheet seems highly unlikely. |

The guys on NHL radio yesterday said the GMs were being pressured by the league not to go too crazy with the 2nd contracts for players. The RFA, after the entry level deal I guess.
I wonder if there is any truth to that. |

The problem is that if Montreal matches, then you can't trade for him. Best thing to do is to try and make a trade. If one isn't there, then move on. |

We should have literally infinity billion dollars in LTIR credit available with all our injuries, though |

I suppose your right however I dont know.. Not really a huge Subban fan. He has a great shot and is a great skater, but I see him as a turnover machine in his own zone and really not the character I want in this locker room |

b.c. philly would be doing Bergvien's job...it make his job that much easier to match, rather than negotiate...what if a team offer lower then what the subban camp actually wanted, bergvien accepts and makes out better then what he hoped for |

Not sure that is an option for the Flyers. If they did extend an offer sheet, and Montreal declined to match, where would the cap space come from to add Subban?
Is there enough players who could be placed on LTIR to make it work? |

well, the player doesn't have to sign the offer sheet if it is lower then they want. |

subban ate minutes for MTL...its kinda inevitable that more hockey u play in a game, the more likely you are to turn the the puck over, score a goal or assist, or record a hit...common sense really |
