I think he could be on par with an Umberger type. Which isn't bad. - Just5
Umberger was an average player who had a great playoff run one year Schenn is star upside |

I agree, but I could see Schenn easily being a player equal to or better than Richards - Jsaquella
I like the kid....I really think his ceiling is much higher then some realize....but then again opinions are like a-ho.....oh never mind. |

Let's face it, I was sure he was staying past six games as soon as he made the opening night roster. There's been nothing to change that, rather, there's been a lot to strengthen that opinion. The kid is a good, smart, feisty player. He's the kind of guy that winning teams always seem to have.
That said, if it's my call, he'd already be back in Oshawa. - Jsaquella
I'd agree, I think his offense game needs work, and he should be dominating two way play and getting tons of ice time in the Juniors. But what better way to learn how to score In the NHL than play in the NHL. As long as he can get 10-12 minutes a night I'm fairly content with the move |

B Schenn easy 45-50 points a season, and plays with an attitude.
He's going to be a solid NHLer. - Marc D
To me 45-50 points is an average player in the NHL today (for a foward). Thats just my opinion. He would need to be a 70-80 point player a year for me to be sold on him. |

Umberger is just an average player. Brayden Schenn's upside is much higher then that. - MJL

The only reason the Kings added him was because they were getting a guy like Richards. Prior to that several teams tried to pry Schenn and failed. The kid is a good player, and will be a very good player. |

I don't think Umberger is anything special. I think Schenn has a chance to be a much better player then that.

IMO, Holmgren would be borderline certifiable to not trade B Schenn and a 2nd for Subban |

I was being conservative. He could be much better.
But 50 points is nothing to sneeze at. |

The guys on NHL radio yesterday said the GMs were being pressured by the league not to go too crazy with the 2nd contracts for players. The RFA, after the entry level deal I guess.
I wonder if there is any truth to that. - Marc D
That would be collusion. I'm sure some GMs would look askance at other GMs, but aggressive management may be the only way to go for some teams. How often do those end up being great for the offering/winning team? |

It is when his upside is being valued as the same as 17&18. I expect 70-80 for a player with his current potential and upside. Maybe I'm expecting too much out of him but thats what I would like to see. |

I hear you on that. But if B Schenn stays and only winds up a 50 pt player. I'd look at that as a disappointment. |

Apparently no movement with Subban and Montreal and he is taking weekend to talk over his options with his family per Pierre Lebrun and Nick Kypreos |

I think asking B Schenn to be Mike Richards is unfair.
Remember Simmonds and Schenn for Richards.
Ultimately his points depends on how they use him and who his wingers are.
Right now he is likely the #3 center behind G and Couts.
His PP time also is not a given.
When Carter and Richards had 80 points here they had a lot of ice time.
First and 2nd line and PP with some pretty good wingers.
Time will tell. |
