I think asking B Schenn to be Mike Richards is unfair.

Remember Simmonds and Schenn for Richards.

Ultimately his points depends on how they use him and who his wingers are.

Right now he is likely the #3 center behind G and Couts.
His PP time also is not a given.

When Carter and Richards had 80 points here they had a lot of ice time.
First and 2nd line and PP with some pretty good wingers.
Time will tell.

I think there is a good chance that he winds up a Winger in the future. And if he develops to his potential, he's going to get plenty of PP time. Flyers have had Richards, Carter, and Briere at the same time, all putting up pretty good point totals. A top team needs 3 lines that can score.

That would be collusion. I'm sure some GMs would look askance at other GMs, but aggressive management may be the only way to go for some teams. How often do those end up being great for the offering/winning team?
- bodiva88

I see your point.
On the other hand Montreal always tries to give short bridging contracts (2yrs) after the entry level deal, so what they are going for with Subban is in line with their past deals.

I watched the hit again from Callahan when he hurt his shoulder. It didn't look like that big of a hit. Must have caught him in the wrong spot.

They likely will put him with Briere this season. On his wing but sometimes starting in the middle to take a face off.

I'd be thrilled if he turns into a 70-80 point player.

I didn't see anyone post getting a pick back in the Schenn for Subban deal, can you cut/paste it for me? Thanks

Subban reminds me of Behn Wilson in certain ways. Wilson was bigger and fought more, but their collection of skills and cockiness are similar.

Two guys with all the physical talent in the world. Love to yap. Love to play physical. Love to rush the puck. Love to shoot. Brights guy off the ice, but cocky as hell. Rub some of their own teammates the wrong way. Can be splendid on the ice, playing like a future Norris candidate. Can be awful, taking risks at the worst possible times. Have a very high sense of his financial worth to his team (adjusted for era).

Big Behn never harnessed all that talent into the type of career he could have had, in part because he thought he knew more than all his coaches and veteran teammates.... and he still had two outstanding NHL seasons including an All-Star game selection.

Subban seems to think he's already an elite defenseman, but isn't quite there yet.

Things are starting to look up around here

i knew that 4 point first game outburst would be an ephemeral situation. as soon as he comes back, he'll (frank) up his groin. again.

I kind of like Bill's earlier idea of maybe targeting young d-men who might already be on a NHL roster right now or in the minors and haven't reached their development (much like the Luke Schenn and Coburn trades). Guys come to mind off the top of my head - Ellerby (Panthers) , Rundblad and Gormley from the Coyotes.

The price might not be as steep to acquire as a guy like Subban and still be able to acquire a top 4 d-man. With that being said, it is time for Coburn to step up and assert himself like he did in the playoffs last year. I think his game is getting better with being able to knock the rust off.

So the plan is to get Heeter big minutes in Trenton, Boucher big minutes in Glens Falls, and Munroe as backup w/ ADK for occasional play.

I like this idea. I would think Phoenix would be in the market for a center right? I would send Schenn for Gormley or Rundblad

What do you think the upside is of Gormley or Runblad? Have you seen them play?

I like Gormley's upside more. Flyers prob be able to squeeze a pick too. But for young promising dmen that can move the puck like these guys are assets I would move a B Schenn for.
