Howdy.
Versteeg seems to play well against former teams. - flyer_nutter
Well he won't be playing tonite, nor will his linemates Weiss of Fleichmann. They have all been sent to sick bay. It will be a match up of the injury depleted teams tonite. |

The thing is the Flyers will have to overpay. Its always that way for star d-men, or guys with that potential. Especially if Montreal really has no need to trade him.
Realistically I think Brayden Schenn, Read and a 1st rounder. Who knows though, Montreal holds all the leverage. - flyer_nutter
Agree that the Habs have almost all the leverage. Subban can pull a Weber and sign an offer sheet, which would put they're salary cap situation next year a bit of a concern.
In the end, one thing we know about the Flyers, if they target someone, they don't mind overpaying. |

I would love to see Subban in a Flyers jersey just dont see them parting ways with two forwards unless one is coming back with Subban. You fix the D with aquring Subban but then you would have Shelley and Sesito playing all year long. |

So you're saying if you had the choice in getting FA either Perry or Getzlaf but you need to shed salary you woulndt buy out Briere? I agree dont buy him out for the sake of doing but if you can aquire top YOUNG talent then I would bet Flyers would do it. Who knows maybe they could get Briere back on a smaller contract. - flyerfan28
If you look at the FA forwards available this off season. Perry and Getzlaf are about the only two top players who are are still fairly young. So what happens if you buyout Briere, and then lose out on signing Getzlaff and/or Perry? You can't re-sign the player you brought out for one year.

I hope they learned how hard it is to get elite guys on the back end. The Weber thing didnt work out because they may have thought Nashville simply wouldnt match.
If Montreal wants Coots in any package I walk away. Let that midget team rot in hell. |

That is a chance you would have to take. There is no way the oft injured Danny Briere is worth 6.5 mil at age 36. Yeah I love Danny but I think for the better of the team he will have to go and depending on Bryz's play he will be the other candidate for a buyout. |

You dont have to be salary cap compliant until start of season....So theoretically you can go hard after Getz or Perry and if signed then you can buyout Briere or trade if he waves NTC. |

If he continues to produce in the playoffs as he has, he is absolutely worth it. You don't buy him out, just to buy him out. If his play drops off, then fine. |

There is a buyout period in the off season. You just can't buy him out any time you want. There are rules involved. Same as you can't re-sign a player you buy out for one season.

If you trade Read and Schenn that 1st round pick may be a top 3 (lottery notwithstanding). I'm really concerned about the flyers ability to score now let alone minus two more top 9 forwards. |

So close, yet so far away has been the history. What could have been Ray Bourque and Shea Weber could have been Flyers.
I do agree that G and Coots are pretty much untouchable. The team is still going to have to match up against the Pens for the next decade. Coot's value is extremely high to our team. |
