He did it in the play offs against Malkin, who is a damn beast.
Pretty convincing to me.
He is only going to get physically stronger. - Marc D
I'm not doubting that but I don't also doubt Malkin will adjust his game when he goes up against couturier. Will cout be able to handle said adjustment will remain to be seen. |

U need a d-man in a bad way. The deal would be 1 for 1 straight up IMO. - BingoLady
That's the biggest problem with the PK talk. Are the Flyers really hurting that bad for a d-man? A current top-4 of Grossman/Timonen/Schenn/Coburn is well above average. Foster and Gervais isn't the best 5/6 in the league, but it'll do for a week or so. Eventually, you'll have Gus back and the D-corps suddenly seems fine. In one month, Meszy is back and i feel our D-corps is top 10.
I'd love Subban, don't get me wrong. But to trade Coots is beyond ridiculous.
This is all you need to know. When both sides hate the trade, you know it's fair. At this point, I'm only hearing Flyers fans complain, whereas Habs fan almost welcome it. Something isn't right here.... |

By the way, I looked at it. The Flyers could have easily included Weber under the cap without making any major moves if they had acquired him via Offer Sheet. |

I think montreal has less leverage then we see.. this guy has refused to sign for what they are offering.. if anything he is worth less because they cant agree to terms.. must be a bidding war going on.. thats the only way couts makes sense |

I'm going to say this again, like I've been since the June.
If the Flyers trade Couturier, they will be very, very sorry.
So DON'T. DO. IT. |

Timonen is a free agent after this Season. And Timonen was absolutely worth his contract over the course of his career here. Subban is not worth that right now, and may not be worth it in the future. He may very well continue to develop and become that kind of player. And I don't see it as being desperate times. The Flyers can be patient here. They have a young team. Make the right move. Holmgren has proven he can acquire top defenseman. Just because Montreal wouldn't match, doesn't mean you overpay for the player, and risk that kind of contract with him. - MJL
You think Kimmo is worth 6.3333M .... LOL.... He once did but not today my friend. We will see what kind of contract he gets next year ... maybe around 4M-4.5M
We have no puck moving D that can shoot. Subban was a +9 last year on a team that finished 15th in the East.
At 6.3333M the Habs won't match and we keep COUTURIER ... that's my point.

The biggest leverage Montreal has, is they don't have to trade him. They can simply say no to any trade offer they receive for him.

They also aren't really under any pressure to move him either, every team is probably calling to let them know their interest & probably could put together a more attractive package then Philadelphia.
That being said Philadelphia is not loaded with prospect depth that they should consider moving Couturier because they have very little to nothing to replace him with from within. |

Thats not leverage at all. Everyteam has that ability.
The fact that they cant sign him regardless of whether they want to trade him or not is the issue. |

What did I say in my post on Timonen? I understand your point that we get Subban, and keep Couturier. I know how an offer sheet works. My point is that Subban is neither worth signing to that kind of contract at this point in time. Nor worth the draft pick compensation that would be required. Not even close at this point.

It is leverage. They don't have to trade him. They can let Subban sit. They don't have to take an unacceptable offer for Subban. That is the leverage they have.
