It does matter. If they match, then they can't trade him for a year. If the Flyers truly want to get him. Then it needs to be a deal so high that they won't match. Which I don't think he's worth. Or work out a deal for him. The whole purpose is to obtain the player. - MJL
Do you argue just to argue?
What your saying is bullpoop. We just went through this with weber. |

The revenge factor cannot be overlooked, in all honesty. If the Preds are in the market for a shutdown center in a few years, I don't see why they wouldn't offer-sheet Coots. Expect the Habs to do the same if we go with an offer sheet. I know offer-sheets are legal, but it has to get under the skin of a GM, especially in MTL where they're trying to set an example of what their RFA's can expect to receive. |

Exactly. And the result is that they didn't get the player. So if the objective is to obtain the player. There are only two options.

do you guys think that Weber and Suter are overrated when they arent together. I havent seen much of Weber but, Suter looks to be struggling mightily without his former partner. |

I think his thoughts are completely valid.
In order to steal PK with an offer sheet, it has to be:
A.) Greater than what MTL is willing to offer
AND
B.) In line with what Subban deserves.
The Flyers thought they fulfilled the criteria when going for Weber, but Nashville surprised many people and matched. I don't know what PK is/will be worth; but you don't want to overpay him for overpayment's sake. Pay him what he deserves, and hope MTL doesn't match. Either way, Flyers shouldn't be offer-sheeting RFA's left and right; it should be reserved for rare circumstances. |

I think if you make a somewhat reasonable offer sheet. Such as 5 years $20M for Subban. There might not be hurt feeling from that. But Subban may not agree to that, and it's likely they match that.
And if it's true that Montreal is trying to set a precedent for a player coming out of EL deals. I support that 100% |

Montreal offered him 2 years for 2.5mil a season.
Im not sure what your arguement is. If they match we lose nothing. If they dont we lose picks.
I'd rather that scenario then losing couts. |

That could be argued according to Flyer sources they arent trying to aquire him its rumor mills and outside sources. Of course Flyers also said they wouldnt offer sheet Weber so take that with a grain of salt. |

So the Flyers won't be able to play the game without him?
They don't NEED him. This is a strawman argument meant to provoke an arguement over some sematics.

True. I have no idea whether they are or aren't seriously trying to obtain him. But I would bet that they have made inquiries. Probably half the League has.

So these teams will construct their rosters and manage their caps with hopes of extracting revenge against the flyers |

I think when you pursue a player on another team, whether it is through trade, or an Offer Sheet. It's because you feel there is a need on the team, and that player fills that need.

Well thats my point we could all be arguing over nothing, for all we know Flyers want nothing to do with him and per HockeyInsiderr (I know I know) Subban isnt even considering offer sheets right now which would be ridunculous. |

We dont know that though.. and lets be honest here.. its montreal..
If they cared about that they wouldnt have offered weber a co tract imo.. we trade a lot with nashville..
