Extremely doubtful they get a guy who is as good as Subban, with as much potential, who is as young as Subban is, even for Couturier.

If we wouldn't deal Coots for Weber then I find it hard to believe he is going anywhere (yes I realize it was Coots plus probably). But with what he has shown he is capable of ...just ask Malkin...I can't see him being a piece that would be available. And I really like Read as well but can see him being an option to bring in PK.

As for PK, he has matured dramatically since we abused him in the playoffs a few years back. He is playing the #1D role in Mtl and still is young. He has the skill set that we need on the back end in a puck moving mobile D Man.

We could use him sure.. but i'm not ok with giving up our first round pick from last year.. We got lucky to get him.. lets give him a chance to blossom into what he can be...

You never know until the time has passed. That's the difficult thing about the draft. It's an educated guess. But we do have more years under our belt with Subban. And he has continued to progress.

Wish that Pyatt guy would leave us alone! Hope he doesn't score again!

Good game by Read. He's looking like possibly the best move Holmgren has made. Undrafted free agent to (potentially 20+) goal scorer.

Granted it was a bad Fla team, but if the goals continue to come easier for us, maybe we turn our focus to team defense to put Bryz in the best position to be an upper tier goalie.

I'd probably agree to Read and a pick, but I doubt that Habs would. I like Read a ton, but he's older and is probably going to sign a prohibitive deal when his ELC is done.

Still, I really like Read's game. Good scorer, good wheels, works hard, good two way guy.

- Jsaquella

It's a shame, if Read was 22 and a former first round pick his stock would be through the roof. Here's a bold prediction...Read leads the Flyers in goals this year. He develops so much chemistry with G and Simmonds and that Hartsy slides back on Briere's line.

Does Leighton get the start tonight? Bryz has looked great, but it would seem tonight would be the logical spot to start the backup.

Even Read plus a 1st? (Hopefully a late first.
- section32

I'd doubt it. Maybe Brayden Schenn and a 2nd...maybe Schenn & a 1st.

Subban is going to cost a ton.

Flyers PK is going to be tested tonight. Hopefully they stay out of the box. Wonder if Laviolette is going to ride the hot hand, or play Leighton.

No we don't. But we do know that Holmgren isn't a shrinking violet, so he's probably kicked the tires on a few of the good young defensemen out there.

If we're going to see Leighton during the 7 games in 12 days run, it would be tonight.

If that line continues to play well while Hartnell is out, it would be tough to break them up. That's the versatility of Read. He can play on any line, in any situation.

Logic would dictate that. But you never know with Laviolette.

How does anyone know what in fact was or was not offered for weber? The fact that Nashville didn't accept a trade for weber doesn't mean any player was or wasn't offered.

Bill,
So Ek posted about Coots not going to Mtl for PK. Since this is our biggest need right now and PK is young with great upside...would Read plus a pick be feasible to get this done? And would it be worthwhile given Read's play and potential? He really has some good chemistry going right now with G and Simmonds

- section32

You aren't going to get Subban via trade without giving up one of Couturier or Brayden Schenn. Read won't get it done, because he's older and more of a role player (albeit a very valuable and versatile one) than a building block.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Flyers offer sheet Subban. If Habs match, so be it.

Been saying that this yesterday.. caught some heat for it too!

I really think they already did offer sheet him, and he's thinking it over. Maybe had an offer from Det and Phil.. but he wants to stay in montreal and give them a chance to offer something close.

I'd do 5 years $25 million in a second. Could be a bargain in a few years.

Kind of funny how we aren't afraid of offer sheets and everybody acts like we are scumbags for using them. I also think we are will see Read blossom more this season, but he should be at this age.

As long as it is a reasonable offer sheet and is not drastically overpaying him. I don't feel it's a smart move to commit a huge amount of money to Subban at this point. So unless it was some outrageous offer, Montreal likely matches. Then that takes away the option of trading for him. So I think if the Flyers truly want Subban, the best course is to try and work out a trade.

You didn't catch heat for saying it, you caught hear for your logic or lack thereof behind it.
