What was tampas excuse? Didn't they play last night too? - JoeRussomanno
No. They were off. Flyers were out of gas, I don't understand why. Last nights game wasn't a very hard. |

I understand the back to back games, but why do they have to be less than 24 hours apart? |

I mean back to back games isn't new to pro hockey and yea last night looked like a practice scrimmage. The heart of this team is bipolar that's for sure. |

I wonder what my boss would say when I work back to back days and have no energy on the second day... Sorry being a little irrational but the lack of energy on a consecutive day is pissing me off. - JoeRussomanno
yeah, I hear ya.
It could really be a combination of back to back AND playing TB. |

It's been 6 games in 8 days. It's going to be like this at points in the Season.

still had to play it, though.
not saying it's a legit excuse for a loss ... but it's a definite factor, imo. |

Still no excuse for that type of effort tonight. Team went through the motions. Turning the page, Tuesday is a big game, Rangers will be ready. Flyers will have to play a smart game. |

Team was out of gas. A lot of gliding on skates out there. I saw Wayne Simmonds a number of times, not get to pucks and lose puck battles that he normally wins. Not singling him out, but it's just an indication of a tired team. When you see that from Simmonds, you know it's an energy issue. Need to regroup. Work on the special teams. And get back at it Tuesday. Rangers are going to be ready. - MJL
It's going to be like this all season. They played 6 in 9. There's a stretch in feb were they play 5 in 7 with 4 on the road.
Tampa had a night off after a home game. |

Tonight was a disappointing effort. The Flyers were lacking in a lot of areas tonight. This wasn't simple poor execution, either. There was a lot of half-hearted work, really poor decision making, especially on shot selection, and the back-checking was non existent way too often.
Perhaps a momentum save or two would have helped, but I doubt that. Leighton allowing 3 weak goals on top of it doesn't help matters at all, but he's just one thing on the laundry list. |

Thanks Dark Side. I tell you something will happen, then it happens, then you summarize it. Looks like we all serve a purpose here. |

I think it's a big part of it. I didn't see much energy out there. This is going to affect a lot of teams. Have to fight through it and a team that can get some points in that situation, is going to do well.

won 2 of the last 3. Do that the rest of the way and the team is in good shape.
team needs to win a much higher percentage of face offs. It is really hurting them. |

I think on a back to back situation on the road, a split this weekend isn't a bad thing.

Hate missing the playoffs not saying that's happening but giving away points like this ain't helping. What I watched on that ice tonight is what pisses me off royally: lack of desire, personified in lousy effort. I can suck up a loss as long as the team puts in an effort. Not tonight. That was a disgrace. |

I agree Joe. It's as if the team said we got 2 points last night, we will just mail it in tonight. Can't afford that type of mentality, especially in a shortened season. |

Joe, I don't see tonight as a lack of desire. The heart says go, but the legs just aren't there. Flyers got down 3-1 early, Tampa sits back in it's 1-2-2, and that requires a lot of energy to play against. When the Flyers got the puck in the offensive zone, Tampa collapsed around the net in Tortorella style and the Flyers couldn't get to the net, or get the puck there. And the special teams were awful.

I don't agree with that whatsoever. This wasn't a case of the team just deciding to not show up. You saw it with the Rangers during the week. This was not due to a mentality. It was an energy issue.

Here's the thing, this isn't going to change. This is going to be a season that its going to be like that, back to back, 3 games 4 days, 5 games 8 days. I don't even think it will change that much in the playoffs either. If you're gonna be that team, that can't be something you say we're tired we will get it next time. |

Yea but I've seen teams in triple overtime of the playoffs show a world more effort than that. Look I'm pissed right now so when I sleep on it and throw some tools, kick some trash cans etc tomorrow ill prolly think different. Also Im not making a final judgement on their heart level as a team but my goodness that effort was lousy. |
