Clouts isn't the only person guilty of crowning a paper Calder Trophy winner. Just because Tarasenko has scored a couple of pretty goals people have crowned him. After his first game people had announced that Huberdeau was the Calder favorite and he's gone 4 games without a point.
The first week of the season has barely ended and people are handing out trophies. - Ben37

Unfortunately there is no way that he can continue this pace in today's NHL. Which is sad Imiss the days of the 60-80 goal scorers. |

Your wrong about Hemsky.. He's shooting more, and I love that he's playing with yakupov.. Let them stick it out and try to make it work. Other then the 2 collective losses were the whole team sucked, he's been decent.. It's 4 games in. |

Schultz has been every bit as good in the NHL as he was in the AHL but don't go awarding him the Calder just yet. Tarasenko has been an absolute beast for the Blues this season.
Personally I think that learning D at such a young age is alot more difficult than playing forward but Tarasenko is "El Fuego" right now.
Personally I see it as a 2-man race with Dougie Hamilton not far behind as the #3. |

I totally agree. Its not like we have a ton of skilled vets to help the kids develop. Hemsky is really our only skilled vet and I think he is going to help Yak out a lot.
As for Belanger, I really don't understand the hate you have for this guy. He is our 4th line center, can win draws when we need it, is a good PKer for us, has decent speed, decent cap hit. I underlined the PK part for you Richard, not all our players need to be racking in the points. Special teams can win/lose games for you and if people haven't noticed the oilers have been taking a ton of penalties and our PK lines have been out there a lot and have done a very good job. |

Tarasenko is facing low grade competition and killing it. Schultz is facing top grade competition and killing it as a rookie defensiveman and leads the Oilers in ice time. So far I say Schultz is doing better. The blues have the rediculous depth to allow Tarasenko to face the soft parade, which is nice to pad his stats with. |

I heard rumors that in the offseason Phoenix and Edmonton were working on a deal for Yandle that inlcuded Hemsky. I said it back then and will say it again, that they should have made this to rid themselves of Hemsky. This would allow them to get rid of Whitney as well. I think Gagner could also fetch a good player in return. Tambellini should have traded him the same night he got 8 points, highest value for him. Gagner and Hemsky for some reason have so many people blinded in this league thinking they are great and would help their team. Trade them and let the rest of the league see what kind of plugs these players actually are. |

Depth at the AHL level is overrated. You can get it anywhere and we did that when the season started and needed help down there. Signed Cheechoo and Brett Clark.
Laugh if you may at those two, but one is a 20g-30a forward and the other is a veteran NHL defensive. |

Signing Smyth was a huge mistake. He left years ago crying over a couple hundred thousand a year. We never should taken him back. |

I disagree. Schultz is killing it on the PP. He's even strength play leaves a lot of improvement. |
