I've only seen the Flyers play 3 full games but I think it's hard to expect more from a waiver wire pick up than what he's given. I thought he's looked solid from what I've seen.

Too bad they signed him as a UFA...

Actually I don't think he's played that badly

I wasn't expecting much from Foster and I have to say he's played below those low expectations.

I expected him to be an often beaten pylon. He hasn't been that awful. Hasn't been that great either.

I was hoping to see his shot used a little more. I wasn't expecting much from him defensively but I've been surprised how ineffectively he uses his size. Hopefully as he adjusts more to Lavy's system he'll feel a little more comfortable.

Yup, agreed. I knew he wasn't a physical player going in, and didn; expect much there...however he's not as "statue-esque" in hi mobility as I was led to believe...he's not Subban, but he's not as stationary as I thought he'd be.

He's really not using his shot much, only once has his blast lead to a goal.

I agree. I don't like what I've seen from Foster at all. I was hoping that maybe he was finally healthy, and that he could help the Flyers. I haven't seen many signs of that being the case up to this point. Hopefully he can change my mind.

Well, to do so, they'd need to send somebody down. If that somebody is Foster, he'd have to clear waivers and would still count against the Flyers cap for $50K. If they send Lilja down, he'd still count as $637,500 against the cap as an over 35 deal. They could send down Gervais and not incur a cap hit, but he's played solidly and could easily be claimed on waivers.

Also, Gustafsson just returned to game action. Better to let him get a few games in the AHL

They have plenty of money from the LTIR, but if Gus needs another week then I wouldn't rush him. I like his game more than most and think he can help the offense out a little.

They're taking great pains to ensure they don;t dip into the LTIR unless they absolutely need to.

I have zero issue with Gustafsson's game, but he's been out for awhile with his foot injury, not sure he's up to speed yet.

As they should because they are also using the Bonus Cushion. With the Cap being reduced next year, the last thing you want is to have carry over Cap penalties due to the Bonus Cushion.

Im concerned that 6 games in they have already been exhausted and failed to compete in two games... thats pathetic..

Im the first to bash leighton, bc hes terrible, but when ur team doesnt play it doesnt matter who is in net.

Since everyone is so down on Foster shoudln't the Flyers just bring up Gus?
- jstross

He just came back from an injury he needs time to get back up to speed & might not happen unless they have more injuries.

This is were capgeek could really improve it's product. They should show how much LTIR is available and how much bonus cusion is being used with a bottom line number of were a team stands in terms of the cap.

An easy way to remember is that the Isles have always sucked (and always will).

We only suck this year.

I've been studying and following the Cap since it's inception. And Capgeek does an excellent job. They do show all of that already.

CapGeek shows the Flyers under the cap using no LTIR. How would gus's cap hit exceed the LTIR allowance of pronger?

It doesn't exceed it, but the Flyers are not using the LTIR exemption on anyone right now. By not using the LTIR cap benefits, the Flyers can bank cap space.

They could call up Gus, but then they'd be using LTIR money and wouldn't be banking cap room

How much cap space do they really want to bank? Hartnell. Mez, Pronger, Walker is some serious LTIR space.
