He'll be a RFA. Not enough service time. - Jsaquella
That makes it even stranger to me. He really took one for the team, maybe character and maturity aren't as big a problem as everyone thought. |

Hey you look hard enough at stats you'll find one that does what you want it to do.
Look at Leighton. His stats are a complete joke. But some still think he belongs in the NHL.. - Flyersgod
Big difference in stats to justify a back up goalie and assessing a player's overall worth when compared against other team's top pair defensemen. |

So now poitns don't matter to you?
Jesus man.. make up your mind... - Flyersgod
Points are one way to determine a players value. Subban's stats across the board are better and when you get into advanced stats, like Corsi & Fenwick, Subban is clearly superior to Del Zotto. |

No, when you have 5 days off followed by a b2b something is wrong. - canadianpenfan
It also hurts the quality of play |

It the b2b in less that 24 hours that ticks me off. And two in less than a week for the Flyers. Any reason why that game had to start at 6PM last night? |

Are you guys rich? How's the 401K? Does she have to work or can she retire and just feels like helping people get rich? That's the kinda financial adviser I'm looking for. - mayorofangrytown

That bothers me the most too... meanwhile other teams are having 3-4 day breaks...
Edmonton has a game every other day... not too bad...
I think Anaheim had like a 4 day break after the first game or something lame... |

yup. Just wanted to go deeper into the stats and show his overall level of play is already higher than what he's getting paid, and that he's not simply a one trick pony, but a very complete defenseman - Jsaquella
For some reason I have a feeling Holmgren is going to try and pry Bogosian out of Winnipeg. Bogo seems like the type of player Holmgren would covet. Bogo is almost like a poor mans Weber. Does everything Weber does, just not as well.
Similar size, physical, block shots, plays in all situations etc... |

Bogo has potential too.. not sure he's progressed at all the last few years at all... but who would with atlanta?
Wouldn't mind him on the team... |

I think you and I have a different definition of potential. Guys like Bogosian and Subban while being young players who will improve, they have already had very solid seasons as NHL defensemen. Doing so at a young age is very difficult. |

Except you're using stats in such a limited way, it really doesn't help your point.
If you just look at +20 vs +9, sure, +20 is better. But when you actually dig deeper you see different.
Del Zotto was +20, while averaging 22:26 minutes a night on a good team that had a +39 goal differential.
Subban was +9 on a bad team, playing 24:18 minutes a night. His team's goal differential was -14.
Subban's advanced stats, such as Corsi & Fenwick show that his overall game was superior to Del Zotto, especially when he carried a much heavier load in key areas like quality of competiton faced and zone starts. |

I'm sure he's got something up his sleeve, and I'd be more than happy at bringing Bogosian in. He's done some growing up of his own, and is a dangerous player who is only going to get better |

I think we both know what potential means.. i just think we have different views on how much potential the players have etc perhaps..
I dunno... i find its tougher on the internet then it would be in person talking about these things...

Who knows, perhaps Bogosian could get significantly closer to Weber level performance. If my forensic wikipedia investigation is correct, he's five years younger. Not a bad trade target in the least! |

Right now the Flyers have 3 spots open for next year. Meszaros, Schenn, and Coburn have three spots. That's not a bad group to build around. If they can land that top pairing type guy then it can be solid d core.
I don't think Timonen will be back. |

They don't have much of a reason to move him tho.
I think a guy like Yandle would be a lot more likely for a team to part with. PHX badly needs young forwards. |

Who knows, a guy like Erik Johnson could be a dark horse. Colorado has lost Steve Downie for the season and Gabe Landeskog has a concussion after Stuart's unpunished headshot. Add to all that that they're missing their own RFA in Ryan O'Reilly, and maybe they are willing to swing a deal for one of the Flyers forwards |
